Lewis did not have to make that move but I can understand the mentality of unlapping yourself.

For a start, being lapped is humiliating, particularly if you are driving a McLaren, but it also means that you are eligible for points should other cars clap out. What he did can be justified by both the heart and the head.

A nothing move to be honest. I an understand why Lewis did it, although it was futile, but likewise, there was absolutely nothing wrong or topical with it. Alonso was slowing for his final lap, and Lewis was as well not finishing a lap down. I'm sure Alonso couldn't have cared less either way after such an excellent drive.

its always better to unlap yourself you never know what the final classifications will be, cars could get DQ at scrutineering.
its worth points possibly! but its not worth a thread

Yeah, that's why I can see why Lewis did it. Although more so if he was in 9th or 10th. Can't really see 4 cars in the top 11 being penalised to the extent that he makes the points.... Of course we don't yet know the outcome of the Massa / Bourdais investigation, but it's unlikely that regardless it will affect Hamilton's position to any meaningful extent.

Well, one point is always crucial, particularly at this stage of the game. It was a free move for Hamilton, so he may as well have done it. It's like the lottery. No matter how long the odds are, you can't win it if you're not in it.

Lewis and his puffed-up-overblown EGO strikes again! He just cannot stomach he's a lap down. What a pathetic overtaking move!
