Ive seen plenty of F1 drivers park it in silly places.
Schumacher-in the middle of the track during quali
Hamilton- on top of Raikonen
Coulthard- in the pit wall
Piquet- anywhere
Alonso- in his pit box when he should be on his way
Loads-on the grid as the green lights go out.
Need i go on
I dont think its lack of physical strength since the car is the muscle. I know they would have to be supremely fit and have an enormous neck (
big disadvantage on the looks front!) But all thats possible. I think its traditional and it will take a long time to work that through. There are many more girls racing carts now. I think woman may have an advantage on the multitasking and quick reaction front but men would have an advantage on the psychological(testosterone) front.
I think that, possibly, the reason women do not do so well in high level motor sport is the physical fitness requirement. Women are not as strong or with the same stamina as men - fact of life, its why there are seperate races for women in athletics and, indeed, all strength / fitness sports.
I think that every team would love to have a woman driver for the glamour / publicity value. Eddie Jordan I remember tried very hard to get a woman driver.
One day, I am sure it will happen. The trouble is though that, if the first F1 female driver is not good, she will damage the prospects of future women.
On the other hand, would a woman be able to park the car properly in the garage?- sorry girls, couldn't resist that one - I am a bloke after all!
