I think that, possibly, the reason women do not do so well in high level motor sport is the physical fitness requirement. Women are not as strong or with the same stamina as men - fact of life, its why there are seperate races for women in athletics and, indeed, all strength / fitness sports.
I think that every team would love to have a woman driver for the glamour / publicity value. Eddie Jordan I remember tried very hard to get a woman driver.
One day, I am sure it will happen. The trouble is though that, if the first F1 female driver is not good, she will damage the prospects of future women.

On the other hand, would a woman be able to park the car properly in the garage? - sorry girls, couldn't resist that one - I am a bloke after all!

 Ive seen plenty of F1 drivers park it in silly places.

Schumacher-in the middle of the track during quali
Hamilton- on top of Raikonen
Coulthard- in the pit wall
Piquet- anywhere
Alonso- in his pit box when he should be on his way
Loads-on the grid as the green lights go out.
Need i go on

I dont think its lack of physical strength since the car is the muscle. I know they would have to be supremely fit and have an enormous neck ( :yikes: big disadvantage on the looks front!) But all thats possible. I think its traditional and it will take a long time to work that through. There are many more girls racing carts now. I think woman may have an advantage on the multitasking and quick reaction front but men would have an advantage on the psychological(testosterone) front.

Except that when research was done on whether women can actually multitask better than men (rather than surveys which stated whether people believed that women can multitask better), it was found that they can't. There is no gender difference in ability to multitask. Unfortunately I can't find the reference to this research. Edit: New Scientist, 7th April 2007.

Also, women don't have better reaction times than men. I do have a reference for this one. http://biology.clemson.edu/bpc/bp/Lab/1 ... htm#Gender

I dont care if women are in F1, just as long as that woman isnt Danica Patrick.

Agree. She's a poor man's Anna Kournikova, and even she wasn't that good in her chosen sport. I've no problems at all with women in motorsport, so long as they are sufficiently talented drivers.

Anna Kournikova is still only 27. Perhaps she could be trained up to be a F1 driver. Would probably get the ratings and viewing figures up.

Why would you want Anna? We have Danica already who is the Anna Kournikova of racing...except a lot less good looking.

Now you've got to ask yourself. Was I suggesting that having a very attractive woman with a high media profile driving help F1, or was I just looking for a feeble excuse to post a picture of a very attractive woman not wearing much?

Anna K. may as well become an F1 driver. She couldn't drive an F1 car much worse than she can play tennis.

Bit unfair that. She won loads as a junior. OK, she didn't quite make the top rank as an adult, but made some finals and then did better in the doubles. Look at her history on Wikipedia if you doubt me. A lot of people run down her tennis results unfairly, just because she looks like this:

:hehe:

She did well as a junior player and may have done better as a senior player if she had put the effort in. As things were, she was more worried about her looks and the glamourous lifestyle. Still, if it weren't for people like Kournikova or Sharapova, the WTA would suck. :hehe:
