To be honest, longbow, I think she understands what it is we are saying, but is unmoved. She wouldn't give a toss if McLaren went bankrupt tomorrow. In fact, she would find it funny.

Yeh i would hate to see her reaction if Ferrari went bust proberly top herself

Talking of Ferraris, it's good to see you like the same ones as I do: the F40 and the 288 GTO. In my view, Ferrari have not made a decent-looking car since the 355. Ferraris, unfortunately, are now bought by "spice boys".

Excellent we like something the same. :wavey::wink::thumbup:

How many times! Nobody in Britain is worried about McLaren being a British team. Lotus and Williams are British teams, but McLaren, although technically British, is more of an International team. If a McLaren wins, it doesn't matter whether 'God Save the Queen', 'Lied Von Deutschland' or 'Inno di Mameli' is played, for McLaren has its own ethos.

I know, I know, I know..... Sorry. Really I am. :)

Yeh but there's one thing to be passionate, and love Ferrari but your constantly attacking Mclaren and saying there not going to be english or called Mclaren blah blah..

If say Renault were fighting Ferrari for the title would you attack them? or do you just hate Mclaren? - Thats whats unheathy the hatred of a rival team.

Respect them, Be Sad when they win and happy when they loose them but never hate them!

Can you honestly say that you would be happy if Mclaren were to leave F1 because i can honestly say i would be sad to see Ferrari go even tho there Mclaren's biggest rival and sometimes i feel that the FIA favours them (don't go off on one on that remark) it would be boring to see Mclaren tearing around ahead of BWM by 50 points and Lewis winning the title in Japan or something silly.

Actually I didn't really care when Alonso and Renault bet Ferrari in 2006. Actually come to think about it I was really more pre-occupied in 2005 about making sure Alonso and Renault had beaten Kimi and McLaren back then. I am serious this is true. Maybe it is true then, I hate McLaren......... Come to think of it though I don't really even know why. Maybe time for some thought? And no I don't want to see McLaren go. Would be happy just to see Ron Dennis out. :)

Your right I do understand what you are saying, but about McLaren going bankrupt tomorrow and me liking it?, I wouldn't really want that. I would be bored then if there is no one I don't like, or if there is no rival, and I mean a rival with history. McLaren Vs Ferrari goes back a long way. :) No McLaren can stay. They have my approval. :hehe:

Well thats a good attitude, but you also have to remeber Ron is Mclaren or atleast a huge part of it if he went it would still carry on but you have to remember he has done alot for F1 alot of things that benefited everyone involved including Ferrari

What good has Ron Dennis done for Ferrari? I need some insight on this one. I am all open here so ready to listen so here is an opportunity for you to tell me something that in the past my clouded mind would refuse to even listen to. :)

Indirectly speaking, McLaren have done a lot for Ferrari because they've done a lot for Formula One. That would also be true for teams like Lotus. Ferrari, however, have not been the most innovative team in Formula One, so apart from being the oldest team in the sport, they've not brought as much to the party compared to other teams.

Like McLaren fan says hes done alot of stuff indirectly like showing the way to make a company out of a F1 team for example if you look at the the sub companies of McLaren that have been formed i.e McLaren Automotive and McLaren Electronics

i know bernine had alot to do with the mordernization of F1 but people like Dennis helped.

The best way to describe it is what happened with Football i.e the Premiership = F1 without the comercilzation of the sport F1 would be more like the Championship

That's a pretty one-sided view though: I take it you're looking exclusively at technical innovations (and even there I dispute your assertion about Ferrari). HOWEVER, Ferrari brought the fame and the famous and fans to F1 and therefore $$$, which no doubt helped McLaren (and F1 as a whole) way more than what all the other teams combined have done for F1. In fact, that contribution and elevation of F1 by Ferrari has provided the basis (financial and otherwise) and opportunity for the other teams to come up with their contributions.

Yes it is imho also but then again McLaren Fan is the least 'anti-Ferrari' member of the McLaren camp that I know so I say:

Add the opening of a cark park at Rascasse to the list too, founded by a Mr I Capelli in 1992. ;)

To be honest, DD, the only ground-breaking piece of innovation that I can think Ferrari came up with was the semi-automatic gearbox, but even then it was designed by an ex-McLaren engineer and was perfected by another team. Don't quote me on this, but it was not until the McLaren MP4-9 came along (so 1994) that the gearbox became fully semi-automatic, for McLaren devised a way of removing the clutch pedal and having the clutch controlled via a paddle on the back of the steering wheel. As I've said a couple of times before, kudos to Ferrari for having the distinction of being the oldest team in Formula One, although it counts for something, it's not enough to make them the greatest team ever. For the most part, Lotus are the reason why Formula One cars look as they do today. They are the greatest Formula One team ever. McLaren and a couple of others have to fight it out for second place.

I'm also not sure that Ferrari contributed all that much money to Formula One. In the early days of motorsport, Ferrari were seen as tag-ons to Alfa Romeo. Also, throughout their Formula One history, Ferrari have had very lengthy barren patches. It was Lotus who brought sponsors into Formula One, being the first to ditch national colours in favour of a sponsor's livery. Other teams then copied. In the 1980s and '90s, Ferrari's support was not all that extensive outside of Italy. It was McLaren and Williams keeping Formula One afloat. It's only really since the late '90s that Ferrari have begun to contribute to Formula One for the first time God-knows-when. The rise of manufacturers also means that Ferrari's contribution is not key to Formula One. If Ferrari were to leave Formula One, it would be a travesty, but no one team is bigger than the sport. Plenty of legendary teams and drivers have come and gone and Formula One is stronger than ever.
