Hamilton, meanwhile, is this week the subject of criticism in the German press, with the broadcaster RTL pronouncing him a "megalomaniac" for comparing himself with the legendary late triple world champion Ayrton Senna.

"I know that I am as good as Ayrton Senna was," the 23-year-old is quoted as saying.

But he'll never be as good as Michael Schumacher :P:hehe:

I'm a big hamilton fan when it comes to his driving ability, I just wish he would have a little more humility, his confidence is now bordering on arrogance and that will not help win admirers outside the UK, He has still to win a first championship in F1. I believe he has the talent to be as good as Senna but has he has the personality to fulfil his potential over the long term I think is questionable

If this is true...and not another 'Bild' -article, that boy will get his hard time soon. Confidence is good and important.
But it can be dangerous if confidence turns into arrogance.

Agggh... Der Michael is still the greatest

I'm not a one driver fan I just like F1
but I would like to see Hamilton be HIMSELF not like Senna/Schume or anybody else
Yes he is a great driver in a great car, what would he be like in a Honda? just as great
but so are all the other drivers in there own way

sorry, I just don't like Ferrari, they always seem to get away with murder (must be Mafia run)

Well, this is a very serious charge, so without proper evidence for the existence of these comments, never mind their context, I'll not be taking them into consideration.

Seriously? You really can't picture him saying that? He has been directly quoted saying many things that are damn near exactly that. Compared himself to Senna in the past, as well as Schumacher. His ego needs so much stroking, he is constantly stroking it himself. This is no surprise. This is not the first time he has said something along those lines. I am impressed with his driving but then the car means everything in F1. As an example of that, look to Kimi when his car was set up for dry...but it rained. He lounged at the back of the pack until the track dried...then...fastest lap of the race. The car and it's setup means everything and Hamilton got lucky when he landed in the seat he is in. Put him in a Renault and I would bet my race car he would not sniff a podium. He could NEVER handle the frustration. As soon as he gets frustrated, he starts making stupid passes and/or silly mistakes.

Yeah, I can see him saying he is as good as Senna....as silly of a statement as that is.

He's hinted at this and other things for a while, but to come out and say it directly is another matter. Granted that thinking it and saying it are still bad. I don't think it was all that luck that he immediately began his career at McLaren when they were on form, but I take your point anyway. Being in championship-winning car has clearly inflated his ego and he as no concept of what it is like to work his way up the greasy pole. As far as I'm concerned, I've not seen anybody as good as Senna and if Hamilton believes he comes close to him, then he's deluding himself and can go to hell.

I'm not saying he is as good as senna, but i'm not going to say he's not either. There is not enough evidence either way. One thing is certain however, he is an exceptional talent. People should try and remember that this is still only his second season in F1

Well, whatever the case, it doesn't really make it right to go about boasting how wonderful he is and possibly making comments such as he's as good as Senna.

It must be hard not to when it's all people ever tell him.

well whatever Lewis thinks ( and if he seriously wants to be up there with Senna he better believe it too) i think he is an exceptional talent,he is capable of multiple world champiuonships and though aggressive, he has not stooped to Schumachers tactics. Potentially up there with Senna and better than Schumacher. (Taking cover now!!!!!)

People can't argue with potential . . . although I know some who may beg to differ!
