No, but if it wasn't Ferrari it would have been another team. Can't help that they finished 2nd and reaped the rewards so to speak.

The reason the penalty was dished out was for no reason other than help Ferrari's title bid. I was watching some footage of the 1992 German Grand Prix earlier. Mansell was close behind Senna but out-braked himself into one of the chicanes and had to use the run-off area. He kept his foot down, slipstreamed Senna and got past him at the next corner. In other words, incidents such as the Hamilton-Raikkonen one this season have been going on for years and nothing has been done about. Why now? Because Ferrari are getting a run for their money this season.

Well there is the theory that if Ferrari are out of the title race, nothing is done.
But I don't feel that the clear cut bias that some people believe runs through the FIA's veins is true. Sure alot of situations have ended up benefiting Ferrari, but that was simply because they 8/10 :P didn't make the mistakes that the other teams did. Was it that they were simply ran better? Or was it that they were just lucky?

What people seem to forget is that there are 8 other teams in Formula 1 and without them you would have no show. The world does not hate Mclaren. There has been a lot of issues that have hampered the other teams on the grid, but these concerns are usually just swept under the rug. Especially in Britain where our newspapers and websites give a very tainted view of Formula 1. Which is through the eyes of a reader who wears Mclaren tinted spectacles. No fault of Mclaren of course, that only due to the Hamilton Factor.

There are always a Villan cast in Formula 1 and Ferrari (and Schumacher in the day) were often cast as them.

They did alot of wrong, but they did alot of right. Other teams have done the same.

Ferrari are getting a run for their money, yes and we are having a very exciting championship. But I will not have people call this year "dud" if Massa wins the title. If Mclaren had won last year, people could easily have said that it was very also illegitimate.

First of all... What the hell would you guys expect Massa to say?!

Second, most of the dissenters are assuming that Massa will have avg races and end up the WDC, when the fact is, in order for him to win it, he has to have 4 damn good races or serious mistakes from Lewis. So, rergardless of what happened in Spa, if Massa ends on top... he'll be a deserving champion.

And on the other side too: if the Hammyrhoid ends up with more pts, he'll be the deserving champion (and about half of what he already claims) despite his numerous mistakes and blunders this season.

if he doesnt win by 7 points he will always have the * next to his title. in most peoples minds Lewis would be the real champion

Rubbish.

youre right the Spa BS was rubbish

Not to speak ill of the dead. But same thing goes for Mario Andretti. Should he have a * next to his name because he was declared world champion after his team mate died when still in with a chance of the title? (RIP Ronnie)

How can you have the gall to speak for 'most people' bud? You only speak for the McLaren camp and last time I checked there are other member's here who do not worship McLaren, not that there is anything wrong with that :) .

Even if people cry wolf over this years title. In 10-20 years none of that will matter. People will see Massa as world champion of 2008 and think nothing more. (IF!)

Not saying Massa will be champion. Lewis has just as much of a chance.

I can understand why Mclaren fans are still pissed off with the decision. I don't blame you.
But for a team who haven't won anything in 10 years, isn't now the right time to be thinking about how to still win this world title, rather than what to say or who to blame if you do not?

Yes it was but it was not Ferrari's fault, the blame is upon the FIA. I have a feeling this 'crying game' will last until, place your bets here, 2011 or atleast until McLaren wins their next WDC title.

Man I just had a nightmare, I was stuck in the '07 F1 season, and I could NOT wakeup even with all the crying and whining coming from the McLaren garage, HELP PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! :P

It is just a very defeatest attitude to take. What happened to all that "we're have the best facilities" etc etc.
I no the mood has soured recently, but some Mclaren fans believe they are already beat.

"FREEDOM!"

No matter who wins the title, in any year, someone else probably had points removed at some point in the season that put the math in his favour. This is no different. If he gets it he gets it, and he's just about as deserving as whomever else has won it before. When you enter the title race you accept these possibilities.
It's not really much of a championship anyway, since it's solely based on number of points. Doesn't really tell you who's best, especially if your teammate spends the season moving over and blocking for you. Math is irrelevant.
