I don't know. Everybody knows that Mosley and Dennis don't get along, but one thing we can prove for a fact is that Ferrari have more seats on WMSC than any other team, so the FIA does have a bias in favour of Ferrari.

Yah I'm just trying to make a determination or get a consensus of which is thought to be the greater evil?

I think who's in charge has a lot to do with things. Ferrari may get various favours now and McLaren get the s*** end of the stick, but when Balestre was running the show, the FIA were under the thumb of Renault for a lot of the time and Alain Prost was given the occasional helping hand by them. In other words, the FIA tend to back such and such a team at such a time for political reasons and the strength of this effect of this depends on who's in charge.

From Planet F1:

Hill: It would be a travesty
Monday 22nd September 2008

Former F1 Champion Damon Hill is hoping McLaren win their appeal against Lewis Hamilton's Belgian GP penalty when they face the FIA today.

McLaren and Hamilton are in Paris today for the International Court of Appeal hearing in the hope of overturning Hamilton's retrospective 25-second Belgian drive-through penalty.

One man who is rooting for their cause is Hill, who reckons the penalty should not be allowed to determine the outcome of the Championship.

"It would be a travesty if Lewis Hamilton were to be denied the World Championship because of the points lost in Belgium," Hill told the Mail on Sunday.

"The decision after the Belgium Grand Prix, which provided a fantastic display of what F1 has to offer, raises the spectre once more of whether the sport is contested on a level playing field, or whether it is slanted towards Ferrari."

Should McLaren fail in their bid Hamilton will only have a one-point lead over Ferrari's Felipe Massa. However, should their appeal be upheld, the Brit's advantage will increase to seven points.

Whitmarsh: Justice will be served
Monday 22nd September 2008

Martin Whitmarsh is hoping to see justice served when Lewis Hamilton takes on the FIA's International Court of Appeal in Paris today.

Hamilton is seeking to overturn the retrospective 25-second penalty awarded by the stewards at the end of the Belgian Grand Prix which resulted in him being demoted from race winner to third.

If McLaren are successful, Hamilton would increase his lead in the Drivers' Championship over Felipe Massa from one point to seven, whilst the team would overhaul Ferrari in the Constructors' standings by a point.

The four judges will initially determine whether McLaren's appeal is admissible as under FIA rules a drive-through penalty "is not susceptible to an appeal".

Once that case is debated, the judges will then listen to McLaren's submissions in relation to the penalty awarded to Hamilton for 'cutting a corner and gaining an advantage'.

Ahead of the last four races, Hamilton could have a significant lead over Massa that could prove crucial come the end of the year.

Whitmarsh said: "We very much hope that will be the case, but clearly it's outside of our power. All we can do is present the facts.

"But I personally believe anyone who looks back at the race and is asked 'who deserved to win?', most people watching would say Lewis and not Felipe, who was half a minute behind.

"I'm probably slightly partisan on this, but I do actually believe that's what most people would imagine.

"We just have to present the data, and whatever the outcome is, that is the outcome.

"We are not counting on those points. We hold the lead at the moment in the Drivers' Championship by one slender point and we can expand upon that in the coming races."

The verdict is not expected until Tuesday.

If the verdict is against Mclaren, its going to throw Formula One big style, and a lot of people will be p-i-s-s-e-d.
GO MCLAREN :clap::drink:

Yeah, I think that is true to those who show more than a casual interest in the sport.
I feel the decision has far worse ramifications. Such as the general public just switching off.

Hamilton awaits appeal verdict

22 September 2008

Having made his case to the FIA Court of Appeal today, Lewis Hamilton has left for Singapore awaiting tomorrow's decision on whether his 25-second penalty at the Belgian Grand Prix will be overturned.

Hamilton appeared in front of the appeal judges in Paris when typically a driver will just provide a written statement.

"I just hope the judges see the truth," Hamilton said as he left the court. "I'm a racing driver and that's what I do. The day was long and intense and I told them what was on my mind because in that position you can be talked down to."

Hamilton clashed with a Ferrari lawyer during the proceedings when being cross-examined blasting, "Are you a racing driver? No! I've been a racing driver since I was eight, and I know pretty much every single move in the book, and that's why I'm the best at my job."

Lewis opens his big mouth yet again :irked:

I doubt it will have as big an impact as some people make out, although there will probably be an uproar.

Why was there even a Ferrari lawyer in there? I thought this was between McLaren and the FIA.

Boy if that statement is true I will have alot of contribution's too his dissenters thread, yet maybe not since a solid 'eggshell mat' have virtually become non-existent ! :hehe:

Remember Ferrari was accused of lodging the initial complaint?

I would think that the reason for a Ferrari lawyer to be there is b/c a Ferrari was involved in the incident, but it is strange.. The FIA handed out the penalty and McLaren appealed it, Ferrari has nothing to do with that.

AKR.... you can join the FIA team. They're all stupido. I can tell you love your f__ckin FERRARI. Both your drivers no match to Hamilton. I am not fan of Hamilton but, he's a freakin good driver and accept that.
