Because the cars will be going so fast the drivers won't have time to notice any "deer in the headlights". :D

The Old Dears wont realise they are in the headlights.

Is this a joke??? I expect Mclaren, as being one of the top teams out there with the best designers in the business to do better than this. From my point of view, headlights should go along with the contours of the car's body and embedded into it (body) to minimize drag. I think you don't have to be an aero engineer to know this. In the first place, these headlights are ideal for rally cars, not for ultra high speed driving for this gives you a sort of broad illuminating spectrum rather than a narrow but far reaching focus. But I really don't know as I'm really not an expert on this matter, and I'm sure they have good and valid reasons for doing so. I'm just confused...

I'm going to be honest, it almost had me fooled when I first saw it. :D

It's not entirely impossible to fit lights to an F1 car i reckon, they could be built into the nose cone! Although maybe they should scrap the street lights and force all the cars to run lights on the front wing like that, maybe they'd ruin the aerodynamics enough to give us some overtaking. :hehe:
