It was Hamilton decision to go on the outside, Kimi had the corner and it was just a little desperate from Lewis.

I know he let him pass but the momentum he got from the corner cutting is how in the end he managed to take the lead. :knob::lurker::nono:

momentum???? he took his foot of the accelerator how can he have ANY momentum!?!?! simple physics FFS

Well if there wasn't a move in the first place, Kimi would have had say a .400 of a lead at the start/finish. So there would be no way that Lewis could grab a tow down the straight if he didnt bounce across the Chicane.

Everything was done properly according to the rule's, how can you govern momentum?

I don't think that Lewis would have made it out of the corner ahead of Kimi, but he wouldn't have been four tenths behind. I think that it would be beyond bad if they applied the time-penalty as, if it was the twenty five second one, that would put him back behind Heidfeld and would put Massa within four points.

Put it this way, if Hamilton had actually gone round the corner there rather than cutting across it, there would have been a bigger gap to Raikkonen. So does that mean he gained an advantage cutting across the Bus Stop? Yes, it does. However, i think any penalty would be unfair really, but i can see why they are looking into it. This is just another example of rule 'interpretation' having a big effect on the decision making by the stewards.

Ron Dennis
"We immediately radioed him to let Kimi back past and he immediately let Kimi past. We then checked with Charlie Whiting and, although Charlie is not a steward, the opinion he gave was that he had complied with the rules."

Unfortunately, Charlie isn't a steward and, as such, has no influence over the decision. :/

Yeah, or Hamilton could've backed out and still made it round the corner... Raikkonen was in front so was entitled to take the racing line. That said, i wouldn't have expected anyone not to do what Hamilton did.
