Id love another race day like silverstone, but with all the championship runners having issues not jusst some. it would be great to have someone totally unexpected on the podium agian

Sutil, Bourdais and Piquet? That'd be awesome. Of course, I'd prefer it if Rubens was on the top step...

Hey, you know what would make it really special? Heidfeld winning, Vettel coming second and Rosberg third, with Sutil and Glock both in the points. Not going to happen, though :/

Bourdais/Rosberg or Nakajima would be great. :D

Imagine the reaction from Vettel or even Christian Horner if Bourdais won the race! :P

Williams are looking good here, a good result this weekend should cheer Nico up.

Perhaps not. I'm really surprised at how poor Williams have been after such promise over winter testing.

Hammy seems to just pull out an incredible lap with only minutes to go.

Yeah, that's definitely something he's extremely good at. Senna-esque, you might say. :hehe:

I have to say Vettel impresses me this weekend.

He's been great this weekend, and brilliant in the last few races since the new car came along. Bourdais is now looking very average. He needs to get his act together quickly or he will be out on his ear. Rumours are that Gerhard Berger isn't too chuffed with him.

Ok, so it's Lewis on pole after all, Felipe couldn't make it.

Hamilton's lap was absolutely fantastic, possibly his best pole position yet. The McLaren's tyre ware is slightly higher than Ferrari's, which meant that the McLarens were losing some time in the Stadium section of the track. Hamilton, intelligently, went a little easier in the first part of the lap to help the save the tyres for the Stadium section - the key part of the lap.

Question is, will McLaren finally score a 1-2 victory, because they have a pretty good starting position.

A McLaren 1-2 is not a certainty by any means. A lot depends on exactly how much fuel Massa has on board. I'd guess he's pretty heavy, for he and Ferrari no doubt thought that they had pole position in the bag. (although this is not what Massa normally does. Usually he runs lighter on the fuel to guarantee a good grid position and control the race from the front.) I still think that the MP4-23 eats its tyres more than the F2008, so that will be a factor over the racing stints.

Likewise Tex I also am getting annoyed. It seems without the brains of Ross Brawn coupled with a Kimi who doesn't seem to care the team might as well hand the world title to Lewis. Ferrari are always strong at this track so it isn't the car that is the problem. Its lucky for us that BMW have seemed to dropped off the pace a bit

Correct. Massa's performance shows that the car is quick. Raikkonen just has not been able to set the car up properly and was completely overdriving in Q3. He did manage to calm himself down a little for his final run, but 6th position is unacceptable in a car as quick as the F2008 from a driver as talented as Raikkonen.

ive gotta say i am impressed with toyota, and trulli, that combo is consistantly in the top 10, so i say well done, butthey should be there with all that money!

Trulli did another great job again. His race pace has not been too bad either. He's definitely on for a good result tomorrow.

Kovalainen disappointed me a little bit this weekend. He struggled a little bit, sometimes overdriving the car. I thought he could have given Hamilton a run for his money this weekend. I'd say he has a lot more fuel in the car than Hamilton, however, so his qualifying run was not too bad. Kovalainen is also slightly kinder to his tyres than Hamilton, so he's still a big threat tomorrow.

Alonso did another super job in qualifying, although I think he will fade off in the race tomorrow. Piquet was made to look a right loser again, which is disappointing after his two or three good races.

To be honest, I'm expecting Kovalainen to get a podium today, more than likely second-place since he usually carries a few laps more fuel than Hamilton and Massa. If he gets a good start, he could pass Massa easily and, who knows? If Hamilton is having to defend from Massa, Kovalainen might pass both. I really would like it if this was his maiden victory, though I can guarantee that he will get at least one before the end of the season anyway. :)

Right after Renault told him he was done qualifying, he responded and said Vettel blocked him on his flying lap. Maybe he is just saying this as an excuse?

And it's thanks to the crap aerodynamics of the FW30, the car's got great mechanical grip, so it will always go well at Monaco, Hungary, Canada, Monza etc but CRAP at aero-depedant circuits.

They were looking good after Friday practice and Nico said his favourite catchphrase "This circuit should suit our car.". Reminds me of when Neil Warnock was in charge of Sheffield United and would ALWAYS say "I reckon he can still do a job for us." everytime he signed a player aged 30+.

I haven't seen Qualifying yet as I have been working all day but congrates to Mclaren, Heikki and Lewis, and well done to Toyota, Trulli always amazes me in his qual sessions.

What about Massa? Why don't you congratulate him as well for getting second on the grid. He did outqualify both Heikki and Trulli and you congratulated them. It is people like yourself who make people like me go stupid with not so nice comments against rival teams. But this time you wont get the best out of me. CONGRATULATIONS LEWIS HAMILTON AND MCLAREN FOR GETTING POLE POSITION.
#56080
Lewis put in another amazing drive to secure pole position, hat's off to him and McLaren. My team Ferrari, especially Kimi, is really starting to piss me off with their lack of being able to secure poles or even keep pace with the other top team's.

The race should be interesting and it will be exciting to see how the strategies playout.

Now if a certain German was still drivin the Scarlett cars...

Lewis, Who?

Yeah, I thought so too; he was banging his fists on the wheel and basically looked frustrated. He took this matter to the stewards, but they ruled that he was not impeded by Vettel. Actually, later he said that Vettel was in front of him and it was just distracting. Nelsinho is trying, but it doesn't look good.

Maybe thats why he doesnt do good in races, because he gets distracted.

Yes I didn't congratulate him, but I didn't also say 'Haha Felipe is in second and Kimi is in Sixth, how crap are they' Did I ?

Okay then, Well done Felipe, and I was happy for Trulli as he does manage to get something out of that car every qualifying session, so he deserved it more as I am used to seeing a Ferrari up the grid.

And whilst I am congratulating, I may as well continue, Well done Alonso for getting fifth, as always you have out qualified Nelson, both driving the same car and yet Fernando always manages to get into Q3 or nearly almosts, nevertheless Nelson has been in Q3.

Not very good weekend for BMW though, its ashame, and I hope they can both pick some points up today

I wonder if hammy could pull that off in a Force India
I will ask you that same question as well. Why is Kimi behind Massa ?? Is Massa better than Kimi ??

I think Massa is lighter than Kimi. However, Massa has showed that when he's on it, he can outqualify Kimi. So it's quite possible that even if the ballpark is even, Massa might still have been ahead. It looked very much like he was driving better than Kimi during qualifying.

As for the race, all I ask for is that we see a clean competition and a close exciting race. I'm prepared to laud any worthy winner, no matter which driver or which team they drive for.

It looks like it should be a close race. Regardless of the winner, I hope it doesn't end in a McLaren 1 and 2 as it would be disatrous for Ferrari. Massa needs to at least finish 2nd or better to prevent this from happening and Kimi needs to finish likewise at least a few postions higher than his starting grid spot to stay close in for the title race in the event that Lewis wins and Massa comes second or the other way around.

I'll be looking to Heikki to really step up to the crease and harry Massa for second. I think the fact that Hamilton is on pole masks how closely matched the McLaren and Ferrari cars are at Hockenheim, so it could be a really tight scrap for the top three and I have a horrible fear that once again it will be McLaren's inability to set up a car so that both tyres work that will prove decisive. Hope not, but I guess we'll see soon enough!
