I thought this might happen as the vote is one per member rather than based on the size of the country's motoring body. Many of the big European nations voted against him I believe and was saved thanks to the smaller countries such as Luxembourg! As Stoddart said 80% of the FIA members voted against him so if a break-away occurs Moseley will have pretty much no influence on anything in Europe and America. As much as I'd like the break-away to happen I again fear that this is empty talk by the members and no one will display initiative and actually start preparing the groundwork to form a new non corrupt organisation. I hope i'm wrong (but i am usually not! ).

Its funny Max is bringing the sport in a full circle, from helping to create/resolve the FOCA/FISA debacle of the early eightys he is now by not resigning setting up the largest split since that time. If he really cared about the future of the FIA he would be listening to the members and stepping down. Thank god he doesnt get paid as President.

I say bring on Stoddy god know the whole damn system could use a brash, angry aussie to go in and kick the s*** out of the FIA and get it back on track

Good to see Britain, a country with a proud history in motorsports, is leading the fight against Mosley and the FIA. At least countries such as Germany and the US have the right idea. I had a funny feeling Mosley would stay, although it did decrease a bit when Ecclestone showed his hand, but we now know for sure what associations do and don't favour Mosley's position. As Stoddart says, 80% of the key players in world motorsport want Mosley out, so a major revolt needs to be staged to bring Mosley down. Failing that, the option of a breakaway association which has measures to tackle corruption and megalomania should be seriously looked at. In fact, even if Mosley is toppled, the FIA needs reformed. How long can these kinds of scandals go on for? It's hard to believe that a multi-billion dollar sport is run in such an amateurish fashion. The sport is suffering because of it.

There was four invalid votes. Could it be the same four manufactures, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Honda, and Toyota who voiced their opinion without saying a word.

I am extremely suspicious of this whole process.
1. The very expensive Barrister, engaged by MM and paid for by FIA (that is wrong in itself, this is a personal issue for MM not an FIA one) presented the case for MM. There was no presentation of the case against MM. Members were not allowed to question MM, even though some wanted to.
The whole thing just stinks.
2. This vote was not so much about MMs 'private activities' as about whether he could continue to do the job effectively. The Barristers points were about whether the accusations against MM are true or not, and about his action against the News of the World, this is all irrelevant to whether he can do the job or not.The straight facts are that he cannot do the job because so many organisations now, either wont deal with him or he has lost their respect.
FIA is not just about F1 and much of the 'support' probably came from other areas. One wonders why people did vote in favour of MM when it is clear that he has brought the FIA and motor sport into disrepute (nothing to do with his case against the N.o.t.W.), and has lost the respect of so many important people in F1 at least. What was in it for them? did they have some incentive? Max has definitely not just won this vote on merit, I am very sure of this, because it does not make sense. If the FIA was a commercial organisation he would have been gone weeks ago.
its a shame that fans could not have a vote - he would definitely be gone if we did.
