- 01 Jun 08, 19:43#46021There are some Grands Prix that can't be dropped unless the circumstances for them to be dropped are compelling. The French Grand Prix is one of those. I completely dislike Magny Cours, but I feel the Grand Prix should have been held their until a replacement was found. Generally speaking, I like street circuits, but they can be processional, so Monte Carlo, Valencia, and Singapore is adequate. A high quality track (so one not designed by Tilke) would be preferable.
A track that should be dropped is Catalunya. Sadly, it won't be happening. The place has a long time left on its contract. Hopefully Valencia will turn out to be an excellent track. If it does, use it for the Spanish Grand Prix and give Catalunya the shove off the calendar it should have got years ago.
Time is running out for the US Grand Prix to be brought back. I know the people at Indianapolis are trying very hard to bring Formula One back to the states. Formula One is a world sport, so there also should be a Grand Prix in the US. The odds of seeing it next year are, however, less than 50/50!
