You guys make me have to go get a drink, with your fancy mea culpas and hungry minovas and whatnot, I might even have to forsake the first cold beer of the day for a long Island ice Tea

It held true at the time. We discussed it at length. Do you want me to drag out all the finer points on my position, instead of this sound bite?

This is exactly the point i'm making, you have that sentence in your head, and that's it. It was the starting point of a discussion not an end point.

Now find where I said Nico was stronger mentally.

If it held at the time it must still hold 'the mental weakness we have seen before' - its just hidden now, if he had bad luck in a race it would be the same mental weakness roth?

so the mental weakness that held true because he made a couple of mistakes in quali, that disguises itself as misfortune - can come back at some point - yes or no?

That's a bit of a shift from...

"You told us earlier in the season that Lewis was mentally weak and had met his nemesis in Nicos superior mindset. Is this still the case, yes or no?"

Can you stick to one question at a time, yes or no?

i must confess roth, I was trying out the Lewis strategy of letting Nico go all gung ho at the corner by opening the door slightly knowing he could resist.

and I knew you couldnt resist declaring that you didnt mean Nico was stonger or capable of becoming lewis' nemisi

Holy moly. This is like Maradona's Hand of God goal. You really have to let it go.

Reverse Monaco and he'd still be behind. He still should have won the last two races but bottled it in quali. There's no use stepping in to defend the man when there is no defence. Nico hasn't pulled any other dubious moves, he just keeps finishing ahead and that's not the way it's allowed to be apparently.

And let's not keep having this altered reality where Hamilton's should be ahead because he's faster. DNFs are a part of racing. The general consensus before the season started was if Nico wins the title even if it's through Hamilton's DNFs, so be it. Monaco aside Nico's leading the championship fair and square.

It's gutting, I get that. But I realise Hamilton has a psychological weakeness that Nico's exploiting by proxy, and it's pointless denying it.

aplologies, but todays become a slow day

Which means he's exploiting it simply by being there. That's not saying he's mentally stronger.

None of my posts are about Nico's superior mental strength. Nor do any of my post say Hamilton is mentally weak.

Even after trying to find something you've failed.

Stop trying to shoehorn things I've said into your distorted framework of what you think I've said, and maybe we can stop having these ridiculous conversations.

Ok fair enough, its all been a big mistake

You didnt say Lewis was mentally weak, only that he has a psychological weakness that we pretend is misfortune and he bottled it in quali a few times and Nico took advantage of his misfortune/psychological weakness just by been there

Just 2 more questions and I am done
Q1) do you still stand by these statements?
Q2) has Nico bottled it in quali or on track recently or does he not have the same propensity for psychological weakness/misfortune?

I'm tempted to rename this thread "Roth's and CookinFlat6's Playground" so that there won't be any high expectations when other members happen to accidentally stumble into this thread while looking for the Russian Grand Prix discussion :irked:

I've answered these questions, your questions, already on this thread. Go look it up.

Quick question OB, why didnt Nico qualify on pole with the faster setup? I take it you have heard of park ferme? Or do you think Lewis is just so much faster and smarter that is able to beat Nico even in a slower car.

Rosberg likely had his car tuned more for the race while Hamilton went for a fast qually lap. And as racechick astutely points out below both drivers were on Hamilton's setup after Rosberg's dismal Friday experiments, Rosberg just seemed to make it his own and got an amazing drive out of it.

Before quali it was reported that Nico would be reverting to Lewis' set up as the experimental one he tried didn't work. So if he had a winning set up, it was down to Lewis. That's said, Nico has given Lewis a run for his money in quali, there aren't many that can live with Lewis' one lap speed but Nico has shown that sometimes he can, credit there. ( but the quali scores are somewhat skewed by Minavo, Hokenheim and Hungary...is it Hungary? The engine fire one? ) . It's in race conditions and direct combat that Nico can't live with Lewis. Lewis was cruising on Sunday, it was a stroll in the park.
And I agree Austin, barring unforeseen circumstances will be Lewis'.

Again, the only thing I've heard re set up for quali v race is Lewis saying he's got things wrong before by setting the car too much for quali and not enough for the race, this was in regards to Japan, but evidence suggests he tends to favour setting up for the race rather than quali.
Rosberg did well to get second, the best recovery of his mistake he could have done. But he didn't overtake 18 cars as you said, it was ten cars. He wasn't a pitstop down on everyone else, he wasjust out of synch on tyres that could have done a whole race , and you haven't addressed the issue that Hamilton was cruising. Or the issue that even if Rosberg had got past Lewis and made the move stick( something he's been unable to do all season) Lewis would have taken him back ( something he has done this season)

That would be like walking into a pub and a fight is already in full swing. You're not sure whether to 1. turn and quickly head out the door, 2. move to a corner where you can safely watch the carnage or 3. figure out who the winner might be and jump on his side...maybe even get in a shot of your own by smashing a beer bottle over the loser's head. Hmmm...lets see, #1, 2 or 3? :scratchchin:

Such fun! :drink:

I'm definitely a number 2 :D

It's Hammer and WB that you have to watch out for. They're #3. Smash the loser in the head and when he turns around to see who did it, Hammer/WB will point at whoever is standing beside them. (Sneaky buggers!) :hehe:

Me? I'm #2...if it's a cat fight. I'm even good for dashing a pitcher of beer on the pair of them just to heighten the proceedings.

Such wicked fun!
