I miss the old days when haterz were able to actually present a challenge of sorts, the tyre muncher was a glorious Waterloo in the end, those campaigns ran for ages, but recent ones like the cerebral 2014 rule stand, or the mental weakness, unfortunately arent defended long enough to give us a chance to really get medeival

Hmm see I think that the stop makes little difference, everyone looses the same time in a pit stop, give or take and most front runners normally do the same number of stops, so I think with his pace and the pace of the Merc Rosberg would have made it to the podium even if the tyres had some deg on.

I think you're mistaken in your calculations as it's not the one stop that's the issue, he made a 24 second mistake that would have to be added in somewhere because he would have taken a second pit stop. See, the fact that there was no degradation as there would have been in any other circuit would have made if very difficult. Nico would have never held of Bottas and perhaps others as 50 lap old tires aren't normally fresh as daisies.

yeah I sort of meant barring any extra pit stop as this race was basically no stop anyway. Massa proved that.

This is so funny from Lewis

He admits flashes of the Belgian GP, when he was forced to retire after Rosberg clipped his rear tyre while they were battling over P1, went through his head.

"The last time we were that close the guy took me out. I was just making sure I didn't get any punctures and got round the first lap.

So I wasn't the only one who noticed. Looks like Bernie and his chums were waiting for Lewis but a quick handshake and the silent treatment is all they got. They seemed genuinely nice people though and have built a great facility, even if the race turned out to be a snorefest. Also glad the race had no major incidents, despite the expectation that the SC would likely be required.

Rosberg must be kicking himself for the bonehead mistake at the 2nd corner, especially as he was able to turn those fastest laps at the end of the race on incredibly old tires Nico might have had the winning setup today. Opportunity missed.

All in all another extremely boring race ruined by the Merc domination and made worse by a bad tire selection by Pirelli. Please FIA take the engine freeze rules away and let the teams design the best engines they can without fear of penalties. It is ruining the racing!

Not ruining it as much as the go slow exploding tyres, but yes, I agree they got the choice wring today. And you know I can understand the frustration that the team you support were maybe unable to produce a good engine with all that time they were given. Life's such a bitch sometimes.

Now the winning set up thing, you haven't considered that Lewis wasn't actually racing Rosberg? He was controlling the race? IE he was winning at the slowest speed necessary to win, with an eye on car and engine preservation? No? Just a thought.

A dull spectacle but there was a bit of interest in how the drivers faired.

Hamilton is looking very relaxed now. He drove a perfectly controlled race, following the old Jackie Stewart maxim, win the race in the slowest time. I honestly
wouldn't want to see too many of them, these easy wins, it takes the fire out of the championship, which is what happens with single team domination and one
driver asserting himself. It was Rosberg's error again which cost us a proper race, rolling over on his back again. It's his turn now to feel like the team aren't
behind him and disappointingly he's puling the sulks like Hamilton did earlier in the season.

Nico did make it hard for himself but it was a great recovery. He's not getting enough credit for what was a very smooth, well judged drive. The issue with
the tyres lessened the schoolboy error (why flatspot your tyres then cut the chicane? He should have just taken Hamilton out) but the unknown quantity of
their longevity worked against him too. His pace was hindered by not knowing if he would realsitically reach the end at race pace, whether he should push,
and change again, or be cautious, drive to delta, but not so cautious as to got mired in the lower pack. On exactly the same early strategy Massa only
managed eleventh; he had to pit again, whereas Rosberg managed it on one set. So it wasn't quite as impressive as Hamilton's earlier in the season, but in
it's own less dramatic way it showed what a consistently measured, tactical and fast driver he is.

Another top performance from Button. If he loses the seat it won't be on form. Mag drove a good race too, although his aggressive early strategy comprimised
him in the long run, but he was never going to catch Button, so a good fifth.

What happened to those Toro Rosso's? Interestingly Vergne finished ahead yet again. I'm still not convinced that fasttracking green drivers is the way to go.

A failry anonymous afternoon for most of the other teams. Bottas was very solid for an unhindered third, Red Bull were just off the pace. Perez was the only one
with a bit of memorable to and fro which is his calling card now.

No way Massa was going to make it, the strategy for him wasn't the same. He started on Primes then switched to options, Rosberg did the opposite. His drive today was executed as best as possible given the lap one mishap. Flawless from lap two on. He did what a good number two driver should, maximize the points haul for the team.

Boring procession or not, I'd rather have talent determine the winner in this championship instead of reliability and questionable events making that determination for us.

I'd still support Hamilton ending it all quickly in Abu Dhabi with a big F/U to Bernie for the cockamamie double points idea by taking both Silver Arrows out at turn one and walk over to the Merc hospitality trailer to watch the remainder of the race as a double WDC.

Oh, a few points to address there.
Take a Lewis out? Why? And he was too out of control to do that anyway . And Lewis was wise enough to leave him loads of space, so his little excretion was always going to be a solo one.

The longevity of the tyres didn't work against Rosberg it saved him. Had they not lasted an extra pitstop would have cost him dear....and he was pushing, he was getting purple sectors and fastest laps.

Massa wasn't on exactly the same strategy as Rosberg. Massa started on the harder tyre, so when he pitted on the first lap he switched to the softer one...which wouldn't last the race, whereas for rosberg switching onto the harder tyre could last the race.
On the McLaren drivers. Yes, a great result for McLaren. Button went from 4th to 4th , whilst Mag went from 11th to 5 th. A great points haul there.

Just a few things that stood out go me there. Vergne I agree did well. I loved his early battle with Mags, that was mega!

I don't know if Vergne's attempts are a case of too little too late. He's got lots of F1 experience and it's crazy that he'd shuffled out the door at the age of 24. He was looked over for Daniil and I'm sure that's got to be causing a whirlwind of emotions. Did he do enough to get the Red Bull job last year? No. Did he do enough to get the job this year? I think he's done enough. No one deserves anything in the sport, you've got to fight for it but I don't think it would have killed Kvyat to sit at STR for another year while they gave JEV a shot at a Red Bull seat.
