Suprised that the Hamilton fans haven't noted how Rosberg went from last to 2nd today, whereas both times Hamilton came from the back he could only finish 3rd ;)

Thought Rosberg drove really well following his mistake. Massive damage limitation - 52 laps on the mediums was a good effort considering they were only supposed to do 29!

He didn't come back is why. He finished where he started. :hehe: But in all seriousness, baring the massive mistake made from desperation, he drove a solid race to make the best of the car he's got. I'm not in la la land thinking that Lewis did magic the last couple of times he's had to come from the back of the grid, the W05 is the car to do that in. But then again the circumstances between the drive we saw today and the drive's we've seen Lewis make (on one of which he actually came in AHEAD of Rosberg lest we forget that) so Kudos to Nico for doing what was expected of him.

Hmm see I think that the stop makes little difference, everyone looses the same time in a pit stop, give or take and most front runners normally do the same number of stops, so I think with his pace and the pace of the Merc Rosberg would have made it to the podium even if the tyres had some deg on.

I think you're mistaken in your calculations as it's not the one stop that's the issue, he made a 24 second mistake that would have to be added in somewhere because he would have taken a second pit stop. See, the fact that there was no degradation as there would have been in any other circuit would have made if very difficult. Nico would have never held of Bottas and perhaps others as 50 lap old tires aren't normally fresh as daisies.

Some terrible thing has come out of the podium ceremony.

Mercedes shirts go see through when wet

Paddy Lowe either had a bra on, or is a very hairy man.

He didnt really go from last tho did he tifosiman? he was 'pitstop' and 'Merc' adjusted 2nd pretty much the whole race, he didnt do an extra pitstop so didnnt lose time there - you gotta see it as though , he made an error and lost 20 seconds and apart from that had a normal race. Infact you would have to say he was very lucky that the track was so new and so he didnt need an extra set of tyres to make up for his mistake.

This is different from actually stating form last pitstop adjusted i.e. having to come through the field AND stop the same number as everyone else AND deal with the massive deg involved in overtaking the field

You cant really expect a guy doing all those things to be on the same footing as a guy starting at the front, you wouldnt expect him to beat the pole sitter despite the 23 position penalty....err hold on

nice try, but to truly compare Lewis' receovery with tyre deg and Nicos recovery without tyre deg where he does the same amount of stops as everyone else, then we would need him to actually go on to beat Lewis and maybe even pull a gap of 20 secs - do the maths

The fact Nico set a fastest lap on the second from last lap shows how little deg there was today, This was a one off drive that was possible because of a bad decision on tires by Pirelli, Nico drove a great race, but no better than any of the good drivers could have done in the same situation, normally pitting on Lap 1 would lead to you fighting a loosing battle all race as you are completely out of sync.

Little fact to undo a bit of the depression I gave last week, We still cant afford a DNF at Abu Dhabi, but Lewis just needs one more win, and he can cruise to second in the other two races if he wishes and be champion

*Edit And well dont Cookin' for explaining this better than me as usual :)

Yeah, it was way too conservative from Pirelli today, it was also helped by the fact they all had to save fuel.

Excellent drive from Bottas and a good recovery drive from Rosberg to finish where he started.

Rosberg must be kicking himself for the bonehead mistake at the 2nd corner, especially as he was able to turn those fastest laps at the end of the race on incredibly old tires Nico might have had the winning setup today. Opportunity missed.

All in all another extremely boring race ruined by the Merc domination and made worse by a bad tire selection by Pirelli. Please FIA take the engine freeze rules away and let the teams design the best engines they can without fear of penalties. It is ruining the racing!

:headpat: there there. It must be so difficult, but you'll have a 4 time WDC at Ferrari next year with all the engine upgrades they'll have on hand. It's bound to be a winning combination.

are you saying he might have had the winning setup today i.e. his car was was faster than Lewis' because Nico was able to set fastest laps in the fastest car at the end of the race???

:yikes:

Nicos car was faster than lewis' because Nicos setup was better with tyres?? or because he almost set a fastest lap? (Bottas did btw), one question, did the gap between Nico and lewis decrease or did it stay around the same for the last 10 laps or so, another question - why did Nico not steadily reduce the gap on Lewis if his setup was faster and he had less tyure deg (ROFL)

(I cant wait for this reply, one cannot pay for comedy gold like this anymore)

I think Bottas could have been able to win today since he set the fastest lap. Overboost you fill my life with joy. :cloud9:

If only I could savor, even briefly, just see the sorrow in the hearts of past members... billindenver, f1ea, who else was a rabid Lewis hater? Oh yeah Jensonb, andrew. OMG OMG OMG, I'm tingling inside.

Haha, the only reason Rosberg was faster at the end was because he was being pressured from Bottas and had to keep a gap
