The difference is, Hamilton has competition from his team mate And thrilling it's been all season too, if a little bad for the blood pressure at times.
That is very different from previous years of domination where one driver with the most dominant car STILL needs his team mate shackled from the start of the season. Or a driver clearly no where near the level of the team mate due to the car being designed round a specific skill.

We have racing this season up and down the grid, that alone separates it from the 'go slow, don't let your tyres explode or fall of a cliff' of previous years.
This has been a great season for many reasons, though I can see how disappointing it's been for some fans.

And today we have the continuation of the intra team battle at Merc. We have Bottas firmly in he mix. We have Kvyat showing what he's made of and the prospect of Mags and Massa coming. We have What can the Ferrari's do to get third place. Lots of good stuff going on!

I said this much earlier, but in terms of driving, Nico is nowhere near Lewis's class. The only thing that has made the WDC mildly interesting is reliability.

Prost wasnt in Sennas class either but they still handed over the most exciting season of modern times, reliability is and has always been a big part of F1. Completely different from having an MS style Reubens shackled and nobbled and even reliability not allowed to play a part on the borefest that made so many switch off till 2007

We all kindov knew that from the start, and yet the season has remained very exciting.

A few Sunday morning off the top of head facts before the race

- Lewis is the only WDC on the grid to never have been beaten in quali by a teammate
- Lewis is the only WDC on the grid never to have finished behind a non reigning WDC teamate over a season
- Lewis is the only driver on the grid to win in each of his seasons in F1
- Lewis and Alonso are the only drivers on the grid to win at least 6 races in a season in 2 different teams
- Lewis is in a different class to Nico, who was in a different class from MS

Hoping Lewis gets a good start and holds on into Turn 2 and it should be straightforward considering how fast he has been all weekend. I'm hoping Bottas can split the mercs just to make Rosberg work harder.

Yeah, Button wasn't reigning champion that year. Still, unfortunately its a dent in Lewis' metal...being beaten by a whether it was reliability/mental state it will stick in the record books.

Yes you are correct RC, Lewis finished behind a a WDC who wasnt the reigning champ. All the WDCS on the grid have been beaten by non WDC teammates except lewis and
