It won't be close, Rosberg will get sorted out and the Williams will crank it up more leaving McLaren and Ferrari behind easily.

Clear Mercedes front row, Williams 2nd row for me. McLaren look like they could fight Redbull here though.

Do you think Rosberg, for once, might be able to convert a pole into a win?
#420374
Actually I feel this might be Lewis' pole to lose. Seeing as how quickly he gets accustomed to new circuits, and also Rosberg is all at sea with setup today.

I'm just watching it on tele.

Oh, sorry - did I ruin it for you?

No,no, it's ok know the result.

Its always exciting with a brand new track, no one has experience - another plus for the skilled driver to shine outside the 'engineering doctorates' and the 'theres more to F1 than speed' distrators.

Expect the talent to rise, Lewis, Ricc, Kobs, Bottas, Kyviat, and expect excuses from the usual suspects, Button, Seb, Massa and ofcourse expect those most affected by the radio coaching and teammate homework passing ban to go missing as they are left without yardsticks and reference markers

did I miss something

Yeah, the Redbull pair are looking curiously opposite to expectations.

No it was actually pretty packed. I'm sure lots of potential Russian brides will find a partner there this weekend.

:hehe::hehe: NICE

Does communism mean tray everyone gets a ticket.

I'm less concerned with qualy now because drivers find a status quo in the race, especially teammates. Being ahead on the grid never seems much of an advantage if you're more often behind at the flag.

But this track does look difficult to overtake on.

Williams look the closest to Mercedes at the moment. Button has slipped back to 13th though. Kvyat up there in 4th

Interesting that we never got to see the full lap from Lewis on the medium compound tyre. He set the fastest first sector for 2 (maybe even 3) laps in a row before backing off in the middle sector.

EDIT: Rosberg struggling to even be within 1 second of Lewis on the soft tyre. Lewis was up before he spun.

Lewis is playing tricks on Nico, hiding sectors and tyre choice data. He is holding on to certain sector tricks to prevent Nico copying them in the garage. These games that went wrong a few times after Monaco are now beginning to pay big dividends with the radio coaching ban.

We now see Nico forced to go his own way more on setup because he can no longer rely on even told how Lewis is actually executing his in the race. And the more Noco reverts to his comfort zone the bigger the time gap between them.

I suspect the true pure pace gap between the 2 is now between 0.6 - 1.2 which we should see in quali, assuming Lewis shows his hand, could be he holds back till the race, doesn't seem to matter if he qualis second because of this pace advantage
