I think Vettel has caused his own downfall more often than not. He complained in Canada about poor strategy but it was similar to Monza, either be stuck behind a FI because you don't have the oomph on the straight or change to a more aggressive tyre strategy, which is his achilles heel. In Britain and Germany he simply let Alonso overtake after exiting the pits, then spent a good portion of that stint in exciting but needless battles. Even in 'Vettel' conditions like Hungary, he struggled. DR has been making strategies work and has had more luck in optimising them, but his ability to ride one less stint, or push harder, is paying the biggest dividends. Couple that with an ability to make crucial overtakes stick, and there's the difference. It's not Vettel's single lap pace that's suffering, it's the things he hasn't had to worry about the last four years.

Have to say things have played out pretty well for Kyvat, 1 year at STR then straight up into the Red Bull team, And to think of all the other STR drivers that have been put in the scrapheap during that long lasting Vettel Webber pairing at Red Bull.
