I am not sure if there is a stupidity virus around here or if people are so desperate to "win" arguments they just make up their own and effectively debate with themselves
For anyone else who might be remotely interested in the truth or in the conclusion of the same things that have been started - this is for you
No one mentions F1 audiences or gobal viewing or trends since the wikis, sorry 90s
We were talking about Ferrari been a pheniomenon than attracts people to F1 in its own right - check
Then it was said that lewis was the driver equivalent to that phenomenon
Then it was said MS was the original Ferrari equivalent driver phenom before Lewis and before social media
And I said NO NO NO
MS was popular BECAUSE HE WAS AT FERRARI - he did not attract people into F1 just by his brand or personality - he was universally not liked by many, he caused a lot of negative press about F1, he put people off, people left in disgust, and then we come to the Ferrari/MS borefest - 2 panto villians in perfect harnmony with Ruebens getting shafted on Tv every weekend - people loved that
So MS caused people to leave
Lewis attracted a new type of fan and there was a surge in numbers
So Lewis has a big following, Ferrari has a big following, MS without Ferrari? its academic because he is no longer driving, Lewis is
Thats all, any half wit who wants to argue about global marketing trends or twitter followers, or the causes of audience decline should just go and do one
