Its a massive frickin risk for a team to do that. Anyway I think no team is running it this weekend....it seems they probably lose about a quarter of a second maximum, and that is probably for the team with the best system. A team which never ran fric (Force India) has been pulling its own against teams with advanced systems such as McLaren.

Force India have been running with and without fric.

I was just about to mention that, every team has been running Fric and while certain reports say that force India have been having it on and off that's technically wrong...

There are four or five levels of FRIC to do with the complexity of the systems. Force India have not got an advanced system so they kept changing it because at some tracks they felt certain parts of their FRIC would harm them.

One of their mechanics explained it in an interview.

The removal of fric should bunch the pack up a bit but I highly doubt the order will change

The loss of FRIC looks to have made these cars a lot twitchier. Once again, more driver less car. I think until they get the balance dialed in well see the best man on top in each team.

So just as I suspected, it looks like the loss of FRIC didn't change the order of performance but it did separate the men from the boys within the teams.

Kimi and Button were laughable at best, Ricciardo once again spanks his teammate. Massa had a look of absolute sulk losing out to Bottas, Kvyat put JEV to shame, but that's not a surprise. Bianchi on top of Chilton, Gutierrez wipes the floor with Sutil and Maldonado was all over the place and way off compared to Grossjean.

Everywhere we had a head to head battle, the better driver on the team came out on top.

Massa seems to be stuck in 2008 about two corners from the end of the season. For a man who gave MS a run for his money now and again you'd think he'd have some perspective on emerging talent.

Bottas and Kyvat did well today, but my driver of the day was Magnussen. Stunning lap to put the McLaren P4 with Button down in P11. Alonso did his usual getting the best out of a bad situation and tomorrow will be interesting with Hamilton coming through from last. Depending on Williams and Red Bull's pace he MIGHT be able to challenge for a podium, but that is a tall order I think.
