After this weekend, I think both Ferrari and McLaren will pull the rip chord on the 2014 season and focus their efforts on next year's car. Red Bull may continue on for a bit because they have certainly found more power with the Renault power plant, but it's clear how far everyone else is from Mercedes that Nico even without having the K harnessing capability of the car, was still able to fend off for so long.

I would say 4th was a damn fine result for McLaren.

I couldn't comment on Ferrari though, as I don't know how far down they finished?

Edit: 6th and 10th for Ferrari. Not the happiest of results for them I guess.

But how many years in a row can you keep pulling the plug and look forward to next year.... only to be in the same position next year - sooner or later something needs to change. McLaren have started to make those changes - but what about Ferrari?

Result? Three cars retired ahead of Jenson, and the 11 second gap was due to the accident. The result is damn fine, but it has no reflection on the actual performance of the car.

Surely a stewards decision should be objective...?

The biggest complaints about the stewards for years is that they have not been objective in the application of the letter of the law.
This raises the question of what happens when each steward is subjective - surely 3 stewards being subjective does not end up in a collective objective decision

Maybe the stewards just rule according to how they feel at the time but I am not sure anyone can argue that stewards should be subjective with the application of the rules

Great race! Once Lewis was out I wanted somebody other than Nico to win, for WDC's sake. Perez was too slow in the corners to be close enough on the straights so once Dan passed him I knew he would win.

Lewis was unfortunate, the pit stop is what caused the temperatures to sky rocket and could have easily happened to Nico and the WDC would be the other way round. Roll on Austria!

Massa's an idiot, total Maldonado move. Should lose a race at least.

Funny, but it wasn't FM's fault. Perez made the move into his line and got penalized for it.
