I highly doubt that nico would leave mercedes as it's the best car on the grid right now and prior to winning his first race he was the highest paid driver who had yet to win a race

Indeed. But why wouldn't they? He's been on the podium in 5/5 races

I suspect Mercedes would rather work with what they know than the possible negative alternative (a driver bringing in baggage). What they have in Nico is a fast driver who is well balanced on and off the track. He's no prima dona and he delivers results when the car is good. For 2014 and 2015, they have a great car and the other driver (Lewis) being an experienced and successful racer who contributes greatly to them (the team) realizing the big prize. Why upset all of that? I suspect Mercedes AMG Hybrid will go from strength to strength beyond 2015, continuity being one of the keys to a long-term run.

Such fun!

Were it not for Hamilton, Nico would be leading this WDC with 125 points out of a possible 125. Ferrari couldn't ask for a better number two driver.

#2 driver? Ferrari doesn't do #1 and…emm, wait…

I haven't seen it yet, but I hear it was frosty between Lewis & Nico post race before the podium. Normally the two seem ok (at least for the cameras). If there starts to be real friction there, maybe Merc will be forced to choose one to keep. And if they do, I'd expect they'll keep the WDC, who at the moment would be Lewis. So Nico finds himself out of a drive. If that happens, Nico to McLaren? He'd be a good partner for K Mag, should Button depart.
As for Ferrari, I think they have to stick with this line up for at least a second season. And RBR, certainly have a brilliant diver in Ricciardo, and won't move Seb so no changes there. I kinda feel that the relationship between Lewis and Nico could be the deciding factor.
My big hopes for 2015, Hulkenberg gets a really competitive car (at Force India or elsewhere), and Maldonado goes.

Kimi was a bit slow to get into his stride when he went to Lotus as well remember.

I think the Hulk is destined for mid field teams unless the rules change about weight.

I know what you mean; however, I think nico and lewis both have the maturity to understand that emotions are running very high immediately after the race. If there's any tension immediately post-race I'm sure they'll have it under control by monday morning. Now, if they were running into each other or cutting each other off and things like that I'm sure it'd be different, but I'm quite sure they both understand the concept of just one driver being faster than the other outright and that's racing.

It'll be interesting to see how their relationship develops, especially as we enter the final (crucial) part of the season. Hopefully, the championship will remain close

If Nico doesn't win, there's only one option for him. Favoritism that leads to one driver winning is what breeds the animosity. Mercedes has done a good job of steering clear of that.

There is only one option for him but is it an option he can rely on and to put a finer point on it, is it something he can control? He's shown to not be able to summon up the wherewithal to beat Lewis…that's the bit that is most likely going to lead to duress. Did you see the Mercedes engineer that was in the post-race holding room in Spain as Lewis walked in and shook Nico's hand? After the handshake, he (the engineer) found himself between the two and he looked VERY uncomfortable being there…he didn't know where to focus his gaze. He had that look on his face that said, "Dear Lord, please extricate me from this most uncomfortable haze...PLEASE!" I suspect the team know this is period is the simmer but be prepared for the boil. Lewis is gonna continue doing what Lewis does and Nico will object. Now, how that manifests itself is what the bookies are struggling to package in a way that will allow your wager. I'm betting on, if Lewis wins Monaco and Canada, there will be the first visible emotional eruption, the kind that no one can/will miss…the kind that makes us all go: "There it is!"

Such fun...
