Luca copped quite a lot of criticism for publicly offering an opinion that the sound of F1 in 2014 wasn't good and needed to be improved. Interesting that in a recently published interview with Autospint Niki Lauda has gone on record agreeing with Luca.
"Unfortunately, as a result of the new rules, the noise of the new engines is rather unattractive. But it's a logical thing, because a 6 cylinders will not ever the same noise of an 8 or 12 cylinders. And if you put a turbo on, which is what you need for hybrid devices, then you have even less noise. Fans always associated the word noise at speed. When I was 14 years old, on my first moped, the first thing I did was remove the silencer. Even if the change actually made me go even more plan, I was all happy because I seemed to get stronger. I understand the speeches and Ecclestone needs: we cannot have a Fps that makes more noise of f. 1. We have to work on, there are technical solutions to do that, we have agreed to solve the problem."
I wonder if the same people will slam Niki

Leaving that aside, it actually is a really good thing that he has both confirmed the problem and committed to a solution. Best news on regulations I've read in 2014
