We'll I've read somewhere that Bernie was moaning about the noise( I don't like it either) never having been to the track to hear it. Only heating it through a FOM feed where they haven't adjusted the sound outputs. Hearing it at the track he said it's ok. :yikes::yikes::yikes: can you believe the man!!

Bernie is easy to follow - where the money is, that's where Bernie will be

Montezemolo strikes back

it was more of the same in Bahrain on Sunday.

"My position is clear, since a few months ago when I said that the risk of the new rules is to have drivers who have to save tyres, save fuel - this is not Formula 1," said the 66-year-old.

"I respect the situation but I think that in a constructive way, we have to look at it all together and try to do something because Formula 1 is extreme from the first lap 'till the last lap.

"A Formula 1 engine is music, not noise and Formula 1 is not too complicated rules in which the people, particularly on the track, they don't understand."

He added: "I think that something, without changing the rules, for the short-term is possible to do.

"I understand Mercedes' position but for me, Formula 1 is more important than the rules; Formula 1 is our life and so we have to think of the future era."

That raised the question of whether di Montezemolo is complaining due to Ferrari's inability to beat Mercedes, who won the opening three races of the Championship while Ferrari were well down the road.

"That has nothing to do with this," he insisted. "Ferrari has, with the rules of today, to be more competitive, try and push and be more competitive.

"It's not a question to change the rules now, but for the future it's a different story."

This guy really takes the whole biscuit tin

Lol someone should tell the m****c to construct another Formula, Formula Ferrari a place with no rules and all the cars are Ferrari. Just bugger off already, take your team and whining and piss off. It's way past boring.

The man is delusional. That was the best race F1 has had for years. Ok it doesn't sound great, but I'd rather it not sound great and see racing like that. It was breathtaking!
#398094
People are idiots, if they want great sound, so watch vintage racing, lots of great V12 sound there. The future of supercars is clear, therefore the future of F1 should be just as clear. To complain about the sound is like reading War and Peace and complain about the font.

Oh. So they'll surely all say that it's on safety grounds that they have to copy the Merc engine won't they?

Ferrari are already trying to get the fuel flow restriction removed. This is not a change to a particular engines but will mean the RBRs Renault engine becomes instantly as powerful as the other 2.
It's not on safety grounds but on grounds that without an immediate change F1 will die according to a poll of Ferrar fans

I voted in that poll. That is if it the same one I am thinking of. I get the Ferrari.com newslwetters and it had link which directed to a poll on their website. It was about if 2014 turbo cars were preferred over last season's cars. I voted against this year's turbo cars as did the majority of others who would of all been Ferrari fans since it was on the Ferrari website. My reason though had nothing to do with the fuel flow rate however. It had to do with the fact that 2014 cars not loud enough. This I believe most F1 fans regardless of which team/driver thay like agree that it is a problem.

I think if Ferrari were in Mercedes position they wouldn't be saying anything or holding any rash meetings.
Pathetic!

That's perfectly normal. Ferrari have always been like that. I am sure you have seen the Rush movie. Even in 1976 Ferrari were playing court games with other lesser teams. In that case it was McLaren, your lovely little team. :D Btw only joking about the "lesser" teams part.

But enough about that Kiki... you did enjoy the racing right? It was fantastic and I'm sure you found yourself at the edge of your seat even though the color of the car wasn't red.

I think the worrying thing is that since Enzos time Ferrari seem to end up getting shafted even worse in the off track lobbying stakes. Montezemolo just doesnt seem very good at the court games.
I have posted countless examples of Montezemolo shooting the team in the foot.

The best one ofcourse was publically taking Bernie on in an attempt to get more money and influence over the rules, resulting in Bernie finally confirming the long suspected secret - that Ferrari had special status, extra payout and 'extra assistance' from the FIA over the years

That must be the biggest own goal in sporting history

a bit like getting let into a cinema for free because the usher is your friend, then turning around to the manager and asking for your money back because you didnt like the film

Yes the race itself was like you described it. Fantastic. It was good as well to see Ricciardo do well and also to have Red Bull give the team orders to Vettel this time to move over. Webber would of loved seeing that.

Countless examples you say. May you send them to me. I would be curious to read them all. The only one I knew of that comes to memory is the one you already mentioned about Bernie and the special status. Although I always thought it was nothing more than just stories.

2006, Ferrari got the tyre rule changed to force a pitstop - hurt them
Ferrari requested a downgrading of aero and more emphasis on engines - hurt them
Ferrari joined RBR in formally complaining about Mercs tyre test. This complaint led to the previous years safer tyres reinstated instead of the safer one Merc tested - This benefited RBR and crippled Ferrari and Merc
Ferrari claimed that F1 should be about engines and that Ferraris strength was in engine making and that the manufacturers should be allowed to use their strengths - then complained that Merc was a monster engine maker and they had unfair advantages over Ferrari who were a small engine maker
Fota - Ferrari sided with RBR when RBR were accused of breaking the agreement to cap spending, they both walked out on Fota and on the agreement, allowing RBR to continue to spend huge amounts to win 4 titles in a row
Ferrari delayed the new engine formula by a year and changed it from 4 cylinder to V6s and have produced the worst V6 out of the 3 manufacturers

When I get some time I will compile a full list going back to the tyre war fiasco

How did that hurt them exactly? Just because they didn't win the championship doesn't mean it hurt them, just didn't benefit them as much as they wanted.

A lot of this is recent. Apart from 2006. Anymore older examples. From before 2009, from the era before that. Also is it true that Ferrari did cheat in the 1999 Malaysian GP, something to do with the under tray of the car I think, were disqualified and then pulled off some shifty agreement with the FIA or Bernie, got the decision reversed and then went on to win the Constructors Championship, the first in 16 years in 1999? Oh yeah, that was one big massive sentence too. At least I put in some commas for you to take breaths. hehehe
