Lets once and for all set this straight. Pirelli are the official tyre supplier. They must provide each team with tyres and track usage. This is a requirement according to the regs (so they would know who is swapping etc)

Unless anyone has proof stating otherwise we need to avoid spreading rumours and giving false hope about the times.
Pirrelli officially state the following:

I get my information from Mercedes. They are the team that ran the car and put the tyres on the car.

Anything else is immoral, and is just lies spread to justify their own existence.

Merc could be sandbagging, like every one knows they are German and softs/supersofts may not translate well enough for those already convinced the times were set on SS

Would it be the first time a team has made a 'mistake'? Duh

However Pirelli are contractually obliged to supply information that is FACTUAL so in this instance Pirelli is the last word.

They might be contractually obliged - but suppliers do make mistakes - it wouldnt be the first time....

I'd expect Pirelli to supply basic info which is RELIABLE and TRUTHFUL since they are neutral and it is up to the fans to analyse what's going on with the info at hand. Unfortunately, we're denied even this little nugget since the tyre supplier doesn't know how to update their stupid website. If indeed Merc did the run on the SS.

As it stands now, Merc have people convinced that that time was on the SS....but of course they'd prefer this instead of having rivals already on their toes knowing Merc has way more in hand.

This confusion is and not something I'd expect from this sport.
