To be fair, I'm sure they're not getting the top rides to begin with which makes winning a little more of an uphill battle. That's why Danica has no excuse, because she's prettier than average, she's gettind top rides and still doing bupkis with it.

As a 52 year old woman I think she is demeaning her part in Motorsport. She is average at best and although I think that was Photoshopped she does nothing to promote driving as a sport that women can do. I think she is trashy.

Women have a different body structure to men and to ask them to compete in Motor Racing at the same level is ridiculous. We have different categories in the Olympics and in almost all sporting events, so why in the male dominated event of Motor Racing is there not a category for females?

:yikes: but the car is the power not the body! women can compete perfectly well against men in cars and the only reason they don't is historic male domination in the sport. It's changing, but too slowly. I'm sure that picture is photoshopped but I still think she looks lovely, why not use her beauty to her advantage? Girls are disadvantaged at the moment in this sport so if you have something extra, use it. There are plenty of guys out there in this sport that don't think twice about selling out to get an advantage, or paying to get one, or riding roughshod over mates. Why should Danica not play the hand she's been dealt?

Ironically, in that picture, she is using her body as her power and not what she can do in a race car!!

Hate to disagree with you RC; but, "using her s.e.x." to sell herself is fundamentally flawed
and deleterious to young women, in general. Just as I can't accept a Miley Cyrus bumping
and grinding in order to sell her music (which is unfortunately part of that industry), I can't
accept that a professional race car driver needs to splay herself on a car to sell herself as a
driver (which is not part of this industry).

If she's a good driver, that's what should do her talking for her. Not her gender.

Male drivers use their marketability to sell themselves to teams, some pose in underpants, its not her fault she is attractive and that the motorsport industry finds female attractiveness a bonus. Why should she cover herself up and mope around in dungarees because of some sisterly pressure from those who are not in the position to make the choice.

When male drivers trade on their disturbances to certain TPs, its called 'wrapping a team around themselves' when a woman trades her marketability people get up and condemn her

Besides she has done better on track than a majority of male wannabies, if advertisers are stupid enough to place a premium on her looks and this gets her sponsorship, why not?

No one would complain about a male driver milking every aspect he has for sponsors, like cringe worthy shampoo ads.

I dont see why some women dont put their energy into campaigning for mixed grid girls/boys, or campaigning that grid girls should be covered up and desexualised (Ron speak)

Leave the poor girl alone

Also the argument that women cant drive cars at the top level is ridiculous, they can fly F16s, build muscles and have less weight.

Absolutely agree Cookie. She is a driver first and foremost. And if teams/ sponsors find her appealing looks advantages to their cause why on earth should she not do it? umpalumpa has been associated with motor racing since the year dot. The thing is up until now the girls have been exploited, merely a decorative extra in a playboys world. Well, Danica is turning the tables and using her sexuality to fight in a mans world, and good luck to her I say!

Forbes has published its annual survey of NASCAR salaries and revenues, and it’s worth a good look. While the trend continues downward in recent years, according to the magazine, some drivers and teams at the sharp end of the grid continue to command big bucks. Here are the top five drivers in earnings for 2013:

1. Dale Earnhardt Jr. — Total Earnings $25.6 million; Salary/winnings $14.6 million + Licensing/endorsements $11 million

2. Jimmie Johnson — Total Earnings $24.8 million; Salary/winnings $18.3 million + Licensing/endorsements $6.5 million

3. Jeff Gordon — Total Earnings $18.2 million; Salary/winnings $13.2 million + Licensing/endorsements $5 million

4. Tony Stewart — Total Earnings: $17.3 million; Salary/winnings $11.3 million + Licensing/endorsements $6 million

5. Kyle Busch — Total Earnings: $15.8 million; Salary/winnings $12.8 million + Licensing/endorsements: $3 million

Some will be surprised that Danica Patrick ranked “only” no. 9 on the Forbes list at $13.5 million, while others might be dismayed at her big payday, since she has yet to win a Sprint Cup race. However, her $6.5 million in licensing and endorsement income was greater than all other drivers except the top two, Earnhardt, Jr. and Johnson. In NASCAR today, marketability equals revenue. And in that department, Danica easily pulls her weight.

I would say any further discussion about the appropriateness of posing with a bikini should be filed under academic interest

WHOA....women not allowed to use their sheer hotness to climb through the motorsport ranks? Are we serious right now.....then could we please ban all fashion shows, parades, modelling companies to be illegal, no skimpy dressing in adverts, on the streets, in corporations, GROs, escorts, pron, and a lot more which I'm missing out. :hehe:

What Danica wants to do with her body is her right....I mean what if she could turn around and tell all fat ladies that they are not respecting themselves and to lose weight immediately. :hehe:

The only thing I wouldn't fancy about women making it into F1 is........the very next step of decreasing the number of pit babes for me to look at to make way for pit guys, it's bound to happen. :crying:

Wasn't it a BTCC driver who had her husband be the grid girl, I think the first time he also wore a skirt.
