Just my impression, but I can't think of any team member more vocal than Andy Cowell, when it comes to engines.

Good thing is taht we will have a real competition amongst the 2 engines before homologation.

Given the prescriptive engine, homologation and commitment to power equalization I don't see where/how we will have much engine performance competition. Still we can all console ourselves that it's cheap and quiet enough to make a phone call in pit lane.

On the other hand the Italian La Stampa are told the Ferrari engine has 650hp and 810hp with ERS

Actually that's not my understanding of what Andy Cowell said. He was talking about energy produced by previous turbo engines, not the Mercedes engine.

Honestly, I don't want to sound negative on this and rain on your parade, but there it's not a snowflakes chance in hell that there will be any major power differential between the engines. That is why you have the prescriptive rules partnered with homologation. At most there may be a few percentage points difference in power. And that is potentially meaningless.

And that ^ is one of the real questions this year. Which team will best transform their theoretical approach to the new formula, into the best speed and reliability. Kinda like wondering if a driver with unlimited potential will be able to apply that potential for race wins, or will he be side-tracked and underperform.

I cheer for Kimi first, but that's really more of an age before beauty thing. I like seeing the old guys win. Having said that, I would be fine if Kimi/Fernando win the WCC for Ferrari and either Lewis or Nico win the WDC. Leaning towards Rosberg in that case, he hasn't won one yet. In the end anyone but Vettel WDC and Red Bull WCC would make me happy.

Just read something very interesting from the Jerez testing. Top speeds registered were very much dominated by Mercedes powered cars. 289kph, the top speed registered by the F14-T was way below that at only 268kph. This is potentially good news for Ferrari
