Your aunty sounds like my sort of woman!! Love it!! Great thinking!!

Can't unplug it because all settings and stations will go haywire.

In the end I hit on a lucky combination of button pressing and it went off.

Today I woke up in the clouds, pilfering with snow again, and threatening to get heavier tonight. I can hear them blasting . A cosy day I think bakng and reading today.

Are there not some good practise slopes to fool around on? You know, groomed runs with a chair part way up the mountain. That would be fine for getting your legs in shape and your technique down, before the good powder days.

For more on my Irish side .... google Red Hand of Ulster. :yikes:

... you could do what my auntie from Ulster would do when she visited us. She turned the volume to 0, and the brightness control to black. :nono:

Smart woman!!

What I don't understand about these new "smart" TVs is why the Image button doesn't do its job.
And, why you need a combination for the Image button to work!!

Went skiing today. It was cold and windy (again), but the snow was great. Had to resort to extremes to save face.

Still cold and very windy here. The snow conditions are near perfect, if groomed runs are your preference. With no one on the slopes, I spent the morning practising Super-G turns. Then it was home for the warmth of the fire, a stack of pancakes and a latte. I heard a rumour that RC was schussing today. Maybe she will tell us all about it. :wavey:

Yesterday was a good day! I skied on the mountain opposite the chalet, it's the back end of Les Arc. Didn't go over to Les Arc, just up and down this mountain a few times, top to bottom. First time I've skied there.

Can you see what looks like a face in the trees? I call that the scream because it looks like that scream picture. At the top of it is a restaurant. Just above the restaurant is a red run. It was like a black, Steep, mogully, and with deep powder and also ice on it.first time down, I skied like a woman( I'm allowed to say that). I did that thing where you keep going across the slope thinking, ' I'll make a turn in a minute' , 'I'll make a turn in a minute' and before you know it you're at the edge of the piste and you haven't made the turn!

Refortified with a hot wine at the restaurant I continued down, through more steep moguls ( on the face part if the slope) then went up again. Same black like red, but I was better this time. Then went again and that time was brill!! Turn, turn, turn. Super. I actually felt like I had my ski legs back!!

And yes, I did some sushing , from the very top of the mountain above the face.
That slope is mainly in shadow so it was a bit cold but I have some amazing gloves that have batteries in them. If my feet and hands are warm I'm usually ok.

Cosy day I think. Bit of cooking, bit of reading, get the rooms ready for the influx of friends next week, watch rugby. :):)

I'd so end up hurting myself Skii'ng at my current age, didn't hurt myself when I was a few years younger but I've got the "who gives a f*** if I hurt myself" attitude to it now ^_^ lol

Snow makes for a soft landing....but nothing's ever risk free as Shumi has just proven. You just take the right precautions. You can have an accident crossing the road.
It's is beautiful, winter , summer, sun or snow.

That is so true RC, skiing is as dangerous as you allow it to be. Often the most dangerous part of a ski day, is getting to the resort.

BTW ... some nice pics. Your type of skiing (more of an alpine adventure) is very different from that found at my little resort. At Blue my day is more like a couple of hours of GS turns at warp speed, than a tour through the mountains. :coffee:

Yeah true but I'm the sort who would go down the hard route, go to fast, try and do something i can't do, be cocky, stupid or something xD I could hurt myself in a foam padded room lol

Wrap me in cotton and push me down the hill haha

How cold is it there? I'm not good in the cold, get cold too easy and go quiet (quieter) and rather not participate in stuff. Pretty weird considering I LOVE snow!

Hope it snows here this year :D

It's not too bad. Often skiing, when the suns out you can easily get too hot. Temps been just below 0, colder higher up and in the wind. But it's not the same as that damp British cold that gets into your bones and you can't get warm. Ski clothes are nice and warm too....so are the mountain restaurants. :)
