I have a feeling Perlman and I may be the ones frequenting this thread :D

Well. I arrived on Wednesday to glorious sunshine and had lunch on the balcony. Very warm and not a lot of snow in evidence, springlike.
Thursday( shopping day) it pilfered with snow all day and was raining down in the valley.

Friday morning woken up by a snow plough at about 5.30 am, it had snowed through the night. bear in mind this is a tiny farming hamlet right up a mountain and my chalet is at the end of a dead end lane. And a snow plough is there before I even wake up! :yikes: it's only a baby snow plough, but nevertheless, if this was the UK schools would be closed, trains not running and chaos on the roads.

Today the weather is glorious, might suss out the slopes after dinner. Here's some pics I took this morning from
The balcony.

Well, when you come to England, a few of us can meet for a pint (or twenty) in Mark Webber's pub.

First day skiing!!!! My legs are caned!!! A couple of the lower runs were in poor condition but the vast majority of the slopes were really good. Much better than i thought theyd be given the general lack of snow.

Ive decided no off pisting back to the chalet for that very reason! Theres barely enough snow coverage lower down anyway and i know there are streams around there.

Those are great pics RC, I am jealous. It is hard to hold back the first day out, isn't it? That is precisely why I took up cycling, I can start the season in (almost) mid season shape. At this point in time I am on day 20, but if I push really hard in heavy powder I can still feel the burn. Nice thing about the longer runs you have, is that you can stop any time you want to catch your breath and those long lift rides allow some recovery.

Have a great season RC. Have fun, but always keep risk/reward in mind. :wavey:

Thanks Operman, I'll be careful ! I'm usually too much within my limits.....don't like falling over
Every year I say I'm going to start the season fitter and I leave it too late. I was doing daily squats against the wall for a couple of weeks before I came.........didn't work !

Maybe next summer you should call up someone in the "Team Sky" cycling outfit, to help get you into ski shape (I'm sure your overall shape is fine). I hear that Wiggins chap is pretty good. :)

BTW .... shouldn't you be in bed or at a party or something. :drink:

I should be in bed, I'm just trying to figure out how to turn the tele off? it won't go off.

Yes I'm getting one of those bikes for the summer!

When in doubt, just unplug it. Or you could do what my auntie from Ulster would do when she visited us. She turned the volume to 0, and the brightness control to black. :nono:

Your aunty sounds like my sort of woman!! Love it!! Great thinking!!

Can't unplug it because all settings and stations will go haywire.

In the end I hit on a lucky combination of button pressing and it went off.

Today I woke up in the clouds, pilfering with snow again, and threatening to get heavier tonight. I can hear them blasting . A cosy day I think bakng and reading today.
