Well I have lost 5 Kilos, 3/4 of a stone

My aim is to get down another 5 within a few months, and work on upper body strength.

Was quite worried this morning as I stepped on the scales to find myself almost a full KIlo heavier :(

That happened to me when I first started doing weights, especially my legs as I used to have almost full weights on the leg curls, and they almost drag me into the "overweight" zone.

Haven't done weights for a long time, I have some at home but absolutely nowhere to do them, want to try get my arms pumped up again for when I start racing, the steering in the Formula Vee car is quite heavy, but at the same time feels good. :)

I'm constantly watching what I'm eating now!

Haven't had a fizzy drink in 2 weeks, and Chip shops are a thing of the past :(

I last had a fizzy drink years ago. The only one I have now is a can of Red Bull before I go jogging so my mind stays focus. You can still treat yourself to naughty bits of food every now and again as "rewards". Nothing wrong with eating unhealthy food every now and again, afterall they say you should eat a "balanced" diet. :)

Thanks Welshie :)

What exercises would you recommend?

Sorry it's taken a while to get back to ya mate.
Any cardio-vascular (endurance) exercise will help shift the pounds. So that means cycling, swimming and running etc (don't jog tho as it's quite damaging to the spine).
Basically if you can keep any exercise up for an hour or so then it will be a great help, even various light weights for an hour a day will help.

just so ya know, in the last 18 months I've got an inch taller and i'm 24!

also the first few pounds happen relatively fast (weather putting on or loosing), so don't be put off when things slow down. Just focus and remember to keep working and that things will happen with patience, so don't try to force it!

If you need any help/advice feel free to PM me dude.

Jogging does wonders, I've just come back from one (desperately need to go in the shower!) and I feel fitter than ever. :)

The only downfall to jogging or running is the stress is put's on your joint's, which are irreversible, and there are many more way's to increase one's cardio.

2 mile runs every day, and I feel like I could go maybe another 1 mile now..

I have seen my fitness improve immensly over the last month, and I'm a stone lighter which means I need extra weight on the kart this weekend :D

Took a day off from studying and got my bike out..

Went for a 28 mile cycle, which is something I have never done before..

The cycle route was 13 miles there, went to my grans house for about 10 minutes, and went back on the cyle route.

I'm feeling better physically than I think I ever have, and I can feel my concentration span last a lot longer now too :D

Yes well done Sam that's the way to push yourself mate. One thing I have noticed is we have not mentioned the importance of vitamin's but I think you already know that. When I was in high school I started taking massive amount's of seperate vitamin's not multi-vitamin's and there were time's when I got such an endorphen rush just from being so healthy it was awesome :P ! So I would suggest, just as a trial, to take seperate vitamin's instead of multi's and see how that make's you feel.

One other thing I dont think we have touched on is sleep. Getting a full 8hr's each night is as if not more important than all the exercise and working out you do.

Hope that offer's alittle extra insight  ,

I don't actually take any vitamins.. Should I?

I always have 7-8 hours sleep a night, but sometimes I treat myself to 9 :)

By all mean's yes you should because it's very difficult, even impossible, to get the daily required amount from the food's we consume. If you can afford it I would look into a nutrion drink and I used and support MetRx. It was invented by a cardiologist for his patient's and it's awesome.

I've totally forgotten I've still got some A-Z Vitamins in the medical cupboard, must remember to start taking some in the morning again.
