What I said was that it is too simplistic to credit Hamilton with the increase in sales in the
luxury car market. Just as it would be too simplistic to claim that Vodafone was successful

All we know are the facts in front of us, new younger demographic, beat Audi for first time and these are the reasons cited by the company last year when they said Lewis would be good for the brand...

You did not mention engineers, salespeople; but, you did mention that Mercedes "beat" Audi, when
in fact, Mercedes "only" made gains in getting closer to the second place manufacturer.

The word "if" did not make it into your post. In fact, from the exuberance of your post, it would
seem there was no doubt in your mind, whatsoever that "if" had no place in your post.

Yes it would be more fun for all if members could come on a forum, get on their soap box and produce their own opinions about F1 drivers and teams
These would then elicit debate from those who agree or disagree. Its not so much fun when debate is avoided and the usual argument ad hominem route is taken. 'Dont speak because I dont like to hear what you are saying about x, therefore you are wrong, immoral, lying etc'
Would be much better to say 'this is what i think about x, not this is what I think about you'

I would be reluctant to say Lewis had a major influence in US and Deutschland sale increases for Mercedes.
First thought that comes to mind is those markets aren't really a Lewis market. Especially in the US where F1 and it's participants aren't really house hold names.

I made the comment that attributing the increase in sales ""only"" to him was simplistic.
