It was on the internet that it can be broken half an hour after launch.

Locks can be picked yet we still all just use a lock to secure our front door. Because it can be cracked, doesn't mean it will be. GSM networks have been shown to be vulnerable, yet we still all makes cell phone class without thinking twice.

If someone is really security conscious they're going to layer their security defenses and most enterprises use either 8 character pass codes or 6 character pass codes that require a number and a special character to unlock a device. You can guess someone's passcode by looking at the fingerprint smudges on the screen. You can do the same with the unlock swipe pattern.

My guess is that most companies will go with a dual factor authentication using both the fingerprint scan and a passcode.

I'll send 20 bucks into the PayPal account of the first one of you to post a YouTube clip showing you unlocking an iPhone 5s with a fake finger. :)

It wasn't a fake finger though, it was a very simple backdoor bug.

Yeah the one I read about involved lifting a finger print, scanning and printing it onto a transparent film then wrapped on a dowel. At least the simple back door will have a simpler fix.

I just hope this iPhone 5s doesn't lead us to a global rash of 9 fingered apple fans.

By the way the more dangerous vulnerability is that you can get into a lot of the iOS functionality through the control center even while the device is locked. I dictated this post :-)

I even dictated that :-)

You can actually get into it's reserved memory by sending it a text message with some encoded data on it and blam you've got a direct root to place a naughty little app.

I've got a smart phone :D:D it's a samsung galaxy ace and it feels so smooth and nice in my hand. It's 8.50 a month and the phone came free :D it doesn't work yet but it will later today. I'm very excited! I wanted an iPhone but was strongly pressured not to get one so I've got this. I must admit it's immediately synced with all my contacts in my email, my iPad won't do that . So for the first time ever I think I have contacts all in one place. Can't wait to use it. AND I think I can get on this forum with it :jump:
One question I have. I've been told to turn GPS off and use wifi. How do I do that? Or will wifi take over anyway?

Edit I don't think I mean GPS do I ? The thing it uses when it's just a phone , the g thing.

Do you mean gprs?

What you want to do is when the phone is unlocked swipe your finger from the very top of the screen down. It will bring up a power menu. What you need to do is select wifi. Normally it is at the top very left hand side.(it should turn green) You then need to look for one that says mobile data. That one you want to deselect (so the icon turns light blue)

Remember you will have to set your wifi up with your pass code etc. :-)

You have literally just blown RC's mind!

:yikes: my mind is a bit blown by the colour turning thing. I have got wifi working with the pass code. What I want the phone to do is always use wifi if it's available, but when I'm out the house( or any place that uses wifi) it works like a phone and I can still go online. But I've been told to turn off the g thing abroad because it's expensive. When I'm in a wifi place I want the phone to know to use wifi. Do you get what I mean?
Sim still isn't working yet. Come on sim!!!
