Channel 10, the Australian television station which airs each Grand Prix, revealed that the 2008 edition reached 11th position in the ratings for that week – behind a culinary show. 1.2 million viewers watched the very eventful race, including 627 000 in the State of Victoria where the Grand Prix was held. Only 199 000 watched from New South Wales, which includes Sydney, the country's largest city.

Knowing that the GP is in danger, the 'Best motorsports fans in the world' did not show much support!
