What we have now is rubbish and I can't believe with all the bright minds we have in F1 they can't think up a better solution.

It's as if Mad Max either can't see or - more probable - he doesn't like simple solutions to problems and goes on stupid awkard long-winded "adventures".

That's why we have cars that don't overtake as well when close together. A simple solution to the problem Mad Max wanted to fix back in 1997 - slowing the cars down - could easily have been solved with cars being forced to be "fatter", ie. more draggy designs so they look more 80's ish. That would knock a few seconds off and actually encourage even more overtaking, but instead he decided on thinner cars and grooved tyres...

Reverse grids are nonsense. Base them on championship positions and every grid would be virtually identical.

Not to mention the danger of having all the faster cars behind all the slower ones all the time. It's a bad idea.

Luck of the draw:

How many people watch the drawing of lotto numbers, eh? Or the FIFA championship drawings, eh?

Every driver draws a number on Saturday morning. The pole number gets the prettiest grid girl to accompany him to dinner. Number 22 gets to go to dinner with the track side chief janitor.
On Sunday morning, there will be a public showing of a 5-min. video of the previous night. F1 fans then call in and vote for the best video. The final grid position is determined by the average of grid number drawn on Saturday and the voted rank of the video.

I really don't like reverse grids. It's fine in a lower series where the show is important (such as BTCC) or in races where there are two heats and a final - but F1 is a serious sport. Drivers at the front of the grid are entitled to an advantage because they have earned it.

Simple, each driver be only aloud to set 2 back to back laps in Q3 starting with the reverse order of the q2 results.

Nooooooooooooooooo, no more of that one car at a time rubbish, please

 It wouldn't be 1 car at a time it would be 2 cars at a time. There is no perfect way to setup qualifying, but we cant have slow cars at the end of q3 and it cant be boring for Massa.

That's still crummy, just let them all go.

i see the FIA are to change the rule for Q3 so the cars dont slow down...... but although this is good you cant just change rules mid season its a joke... it cost mclaren at least 1 place on the podium maybe even 2 places.... the last race should be void and re-run as last race of the season......

thats ridiculous,

would you rather they carry on going dangerously slow?
it affects everyone equally, this change

and mclaren cost themselves those positions

sorry it may have came across wrong, the first change should not have happened, last season was far more exciting...
but once somebody has had a penalty against them you cant just change the rule the next week.. again i agree to a point that they did get in the way by slowing down but when i was watching lewis hamilton doing one of his laps in Q 1,2 and 3 he also was impeaded on one of these ( not sure by who until i see it again ) but nothing happened.

my point is once a rule has been made (even if its a crap one) you must wait for the next season to change it...

That's insane. You can't void a race just because McLaren missed some points. It's simply not fair or practical.

The FIA is well within their rights to change and tighten rules as the season goes on, in fact it's the only way to get them right because noone knows how things will turn out till the rule is put into practice.

Why should it be void? The drivers cost themselves those podium places. They got penalised for impeding other cars during qualifying, so I can't see how their own mistakes and breaking of rules that are already in place should warrant the race being void.

rules that were already in place? why are they changing them after said incident?
