MM does not need a machine to do that. He delivers poo all the time, especialy to RD.

As much as I can't stand Todt and the reasons for which Mosley chose him, he is experienced in numerous forms of motorsport. Schumacher has a very good CV as well. In saying that, I would have liked to see at least one more guy from McLaren-Mercedes on the panel given Ferrari were at fault in this case (despite its denials) and that it is McLaren-Mercedes and its sponsors' cash (perhaps more as a symbolic gesture, for its not like the money is going to be stolen or something).

The point is, I think, that this decision should be made by FIA personnel, there must be people who can form a good panel to decide how the cash is distributed, and who have no connection (on paper at least) with Fiat/Ferrari. I do understand that, in many ways, Fiat / Ferrari & FIA are one and the same and what ever happens you can bet your life that Todt will be pulling strings in the background, but, because Ferrari WERE involved in this debacle (in the eyes of many of the most important people i.e. the fans) no Fiat Ferrari personnel should be involved in this. Hill & Stewart are excellent suggestions phren.
The arrogance of MM to disregard everyone except Ferrari is really beyond belief, and we, as fans and, therefore, the indirect providers of all of the funds in F1, can do nothing about it. Its a disgrace. I also agree that is probably a deliberate attempt to insult R.D. / McL which is really no way for a governing body to behave.

I don't understand your point vegas. You say that its pretty fair (I assume that you were referring to my post?) and then you say that we Brits are sore losers. What is it that we are losers about? MMs behavior in the FIA? If that is the point do you think that the conduct of the FIA, and MM in particular, is honest, professional and reasonable? If you think that FIA does not come up to standard then don't you think that we should frustrated by that?
I do think that MM & the FIA are not any of the above, and the fact that it is dominated by Ferrari is also unreasonable, but I don't see why that makes us sore losers. We see something wrong and want to put it right but are powerless to do so.

Whilst it is true that I do not like losing, and, i suspect, neither does anyone in F1, I do not see this as losing.

He makes a valid point. One of Ferrari's employees was involved in the whole thing. Stepney created the problem, Coughlan made it worse. Neither side in this argument is innocent and any of you who believe your beloved team did no wrong are mistaken. I'm not saying that they were equally wrong, though. There was more wrong on the McLaren side of things.

Personally, I'm fine with the decision. They can only spend the money on safety, so there's no problem there. People just seem to enjoy making something out of what is, to be honest, nothing.

There is a big difference here between Ferrari and McLaren.

The Ferrari employee was delt with the moment it was found out. McLaren didn't deal with it the moment it was found out, they decided to use the information and it went on for a prolonged period of time. McLaren then tried to cover it up with a set of signatures which was also a complete lie.

Huge differences there mate.

If McLaren had dealt with it the same way Ferrari did, we wouldn't be having this conversation. McLaren showed prolonged deception then tried to lie further to proclaim their innocence, that's why they go punished.

No I was referring to the main topic of the thread. If you weren't such sore losers of '07 then I don't think you would see it as "one step too far" to allow Ferrari members to organize how the fine is spent. In fact I only find it fair.
