Sorry if this should be in another thread, but has anyone got a feeling of how next season's calendar would work?

I could see the following working. For now I'll assume there are 20 races Including NJ, but no Korea/India. Also going with the expected dates of Bahrain on March 2nd and Austria on July 6th.

1. Bahrain - March 2
2. Australia - March 16
3. Malaysia - March 30
4. China - April 6
5. Spain - April 27
6. Monaco - May 11
7. Canada - May 25
8. New Jersey - June 1
9. Britain - June 22
10. Austria - July 6
11. Germany - July 13
12. Hungary - July 27
13. Belgium - August 24
14. Italy - August 31
15. Russia - September 14
16. Singapore - September 28
17. Japan - October 5
18. Abu Dhabi - October 26
19. USA - November 9
20. Brazil - November 16

Personally, that calendar would work well. Only three 3 week breaks so that In-season tests can be held at Barcelona, Silverstone and Abu Dhabi. the 4th test could be held at Spa towards the end of the summer break.

I'm not a fan of having Bahrain first in the season, doesn't seem like the right circuit to kick things off with.

Agree, but having Bahrain first is better for TV Audiences, as it is a 1PM (2PM CET) start rather than 6AM (7AM CET).

Well my Silverstone ticket for next year says 6th July.........but they always carry a rider that it may change. Not a popular move if they do though.

Bahrain is first.....oh man.

Melbourne always feels like the official season opener to me, but next year we open the year in a boring desert. Okay.

Bahrain really sucks as the first race. It's definitely not a curtain-raiser.

(Having said that, THIS year's Bahrain GP comfortably bettered the race in Melbourne).

The only thing that changes is the dates of the race, not the times, so not sure how you assume this is better for TV audiences.

The advantage of putting Bahrain first is that the teams can leave a lot of their things in Bahrain between the pre season testing and the opener. Additionally it will be a lot cooler than when the race is traditional run weeks later.

Depends on where you live. Asian races start anywhere from 11pm-2am here in the U.S., whereas most of the european/middle east ones start at 5am, so yes the location does change the time.

But the time for Bahrain would remain the same, regardless of if it was shown in March, August or December. I THINK thats the point S.Polack was trying to make.

Because Bahrain is closer to Europe, therefore the race is at a better time for European Viewers, which is still where the large percentage of viewers come from. If the race was in Australia all sessions would be overnight/ early morning in Europe, so for TV figures it may look better to have the 1st race in Bahrain, although the die hards 9like me) would get up for a 6AM start anyway ;)

I miss Turkey :(

Agreed. A great circuit, but it always seemed to be under-filled. Was this due to location, lack of interest or price?

One of them, put that track in the middle of france/ germany/ spain etc and it would sell out every year

Turkey had trouble paying the fees to host, and thus it was dropped from 2012
