The cheerers were no better than hooligans: exhibiting a morally unsporting behavior, and finding excuses to justify it.

Excuse for the cheerers' behaviour. Not sure what else was your point in mentioning it, if not to excuse their behavior.
Or does it make the British crowd better than the Canadian crowd, because they were booeing while there was not an adopted Canadian involved?

Are all Spanish people racist because a few blacked up and shouted racist comments at Hamilton ?

Is it any different to you coming on here and showing your glee that Webber or Hamilton had a bad race ?

And your disregard for the booeing that's happened aplenty, does not magically make it not have happened.
Though perhaps the saddest thing is that people are trying to justify it. Not own up to it: "momentary lack of self-control" or whatnot. No, people know it's bad form yet are so pitiful that they feel the need to justify it with double standards.

If they were cheering for Red Bull's misfortune as a team, they wouldn't cheer for Webber.

Also at the stands at a BTCC race at Thruxton, Neal passed Plato on the final corner of the race, some people cheered and some people boo'd. Nothing to do with nationality there as their both British. This is a sport, you support who you support; in case you didn't notice people were cheering ALL the members of the podium, not booing Rosberg because he beat Alonso (See Canada), and I bet if Vettel was on that podium they would have cheered him too.
