I think we can all agree McLaren would be better off if the put me as team principle. I'd whip 'em into shape. I'm gonna go start a campaign right now.

Lemon F1?

Citric Racing or Citric F1

Get Denthul to design the livery.

Now what sort of contribution to the discussion is this? Are we now saying the solution of McLarens woes is to put 1Lemon in charge, rename the team Citric Racing or Citric F1 and get Denthul to design the livery?

Yes. Problem solved. Lock the thread.

(See what we can do as a team, if we really try)

Latest on McLaren's current standing;

http://www1.skysports.com/formula-1/news/12472/8783103/Lewis-Hamilton-fears-for-his-legacy-after-wasting-away-best-years-at-McLaren

Lewis appears to be saying that staying 5 years with McLaren wasted his best years. This, if true is not going to help the team attract drivers of high quality and low wages. Potential ace drivers like Hulk will surely think twice until there are drastic changes

"I got to F1 and nearly won in my first year, then won I won in my second year," Hamilton reflected. "I've never had a car to really compete since then. The car makes such a big difference so you're just wasting away your best years."

McLaren need to hook ace drivers, sponsors and staff quickly before they run out of their historical reputation. If we look t the recent outflows of quality then it becomes clear that a historical promise doesnt cut it anymore, especially with the team now in 6th place

Lets hope Sergio stays and his money arrives, and lets hope Button is not signed up on a new contract thats again the 3rd highest wage packet on the grid.

I believe it is more to do with the mentality and ethos of the design group....

No doubt that McLaren have all the technical expertise to rival any team, and a depth of talent.

During all their successful periods, there was period of refinement of design year on year. The John Barnard, Gordon Murray, and Adrian Newey eras, all had continuity of concept.

Since 2009, McLaren have always started the season pretty average, and made monumental gains in season, to finish with arguably one of the quickest cars. The next season, they launch a car with a new "design concept", and start from zero again, without building on the last seasons success. Quite often its been aero led problems. As we've seen this year, McLaren can only go quick with the car on the deck, which isn't possible with 160 kg of fuel.
I honestly think Lewis got tired of taking a step backwards at the start of every season after finishing the previous year up front. Mercedes have shown refinement of concept, which is paying dividends, although the fundamental tyres problems of the last 2 cars is still there also...

New chassis are signed of in August of September, so obviously there is never a straight flow on of ideas, but Renault (now Lotus Renault) for many years have had 2 design teams that alternate year on year, but work to integrate each new design with the concept and best parts of the previous design.

Red Bull in recent times have shown how familiarity and refinement of a long term design concept can reap rewards. Ferrari were at their best when they did the same, its not rocket science.....

So now at Merc, isn't he anymore at his best?
Not many drivers had the chance to drive one of the fastest cars at their rookie years, He should be happy he did't start at marussia or caterham.(who knows where he would have been now)

Anyway McL doesn't need new drivers, they just need to make better decisions in the future...
They had everything going their way, (solid pace, sponsors, a passionate new driver and an experienced one) and then, they committed suicide.

McLaren have a super car company that are not making "Super cars" but "performance" cars but selling them for super car prices so no ones buying them.

McLaren have made £216,000,000 on McLaren P1's and still have one third of them to sell. They have also sold more then 1000 of the £250,000 McLaren Mp4-12c's. So they are making money!
