I love that interview... I think Button came out to say that Martin was correct in what Jenson would of been feeling. Ant Davidson and the "This is how your team mate overtook you" comment tickled me as well.

I see what bud and MOA were on about. It's one thing to get worked up over people calling Hamilton a daddy's boy or stupid or whatever the argument was. But yet we're all cool about psycho-analyzing everything Button does and assigning an ulterior motive to it. This just feels like hypocrisy to the most extreme level. This is the reason behind the low morale of the forum.

I have stayed clear of this thread and will continue to do so from now on. I do not agree with personal attacks on a driver, and can understand MOA's motives for leaving because of the double standard imposed between Hamilton and Button.

But I checked out that video and just thought Button is one cool guy. He drives for McLaren for a reason - because he's a bloody good driver. And he is so graceful to be totally upfront and honest about how he feels about the battle with Perez. And he was willing to front the media even when he didn't HAVE to.

Meanwhile on the Vettel thread there was pages and pages of comments on how Vettel was an arrogant jerk for not being transparent from the get go about his motives for overtaking Vettel. Button is the most professional driver on the grid. Totally supports his team, handles himself well in interviews. Would be the guy I'd have a beer with any day (moreso than Vettel).

It's one way of looking at it, certainly not how i see it. He fronted the media to make sure his point of view was put immediately and to try to recoup the damage form the radio comments and having a go at Perez.
And as I said before, short memories if you've forgotten the crap that fell out over Lewis week after week after week after week. Rules the same for everyone whoever the driver whoever the poster. Analyse the driver/ team all you like but don't have a go at that drivers/teams supporters.

But it does seem like you can say anything about everything Button does, but the moment you even mention Hamilton in a slightly negative way people jump down your throat.

Aren't people jumping down the throat of those that say bad thing about Jenson? We actually just sent two members on vacation because of it and their inability to refrain from jump down throats. There is another issue, the scale of fans as well, you can probably dig up ten Hamilton fans for every one Jenson fan, that skews the perception a bit because you see posts on a ten to one ratio.

The point is, there will always be people that support a driver and people that despise that same driver. It's all about POV. I've personally tried (and failed miserably) to get people to loiter around in the threads of the drivers they support and work from a constructive standpoint instead of a destructive standpoint. In other words hype up your driver and let us see why you like them instead of nitpicking other drivers to point out why they're inferior to the guy you support.

My failure isn't my fault, it's simply that there's a subset of people that simply don't work that way, so to fight against human nature on the internet is pretty futile.

First of all, is this even a support thread? I just read the very first post again, and this was a thread to discuss Button.

There's always 2 points of view....1 point will be where people see Button as "Martins saviour" and running over to help Martin and risk himself looking like an idiot (which is what happened) just because he's a freakin awesome dude.

Another view is what rc mentioned, which is what I share and am 100% convinced is the correct one.

Why not open a support thread for Button where people cannot tread saying tru..err, stuff about Button...though that thread might sink to page 2 in less than a day since we probably have a grand total of 2 Button fans here at most. And that's counting Andrew, who changes his mind every hour of every day.

If you bothered to properly read what I write you'd realise I don't change my mind "every hour of every day" and you'll realise that I'm open to having my opinion changed by alternative points of view. Try it sometime.

Cue obligitory pointless meme.

Yeah I was out of line mentioning you by name. My sincere apologies, and no memes...I'm in no mood for it.
