From what I know, having spoken to others on this subject, 'they' see JSA as them paying you to search for a job 40 hours a week, and if you are not, you don't get paid.
That's a bit unreasonable. I remember when I was on JSA that you could miss out of payments if you didn't attend your fortnightly meeting to tell them you still havn't found a job. I don't recall it being that strict that if you go away for a couple of days you loose a week's money. It's effectively a holiday so you wouldn't be able to work if you had a job. I'd certainly appeal that decision. Do they seriously expect you to not leave your home or put your life on hold whilst you spend ages chasing a job that 200 other people are chasing? I would say they are being pretty unreasonable.

I was lucky in that I had a fair bit saved up and my folks said they wouldn't see me stuck, but if you don't have that luxury, losing out on a weeks cash could really land you right in it! Just tell them you're from Eastern Europe and they throw money at you. You'll probably get a council house as well.
