I agree. What an achievement! I doubt he ever intended it to be roadworthy. Just a fantastic project that he can maybe have fun with on a race track.

Seeing it in a queue of traffic at a set of traffic lights would be something rather glorious though!

It's just going to stay as a model correct? Is he actually going to power it? Surely an F1 engine is out of his talent depth (which is very deep!) and driving it around on public roads is surely a no no even if he dumps in a 2JZ or some other powerplant.

As the article says.....

His car, while far from perfect, is coming along fantastically, but it's missing one crucial element: the 600hp V10 engine that powered the BAR his vehicle is inspired by. Barring a miracle, he'll have to settle for something a little less bonkers. “I’ll probably go for a Formula Renault 3.5-liter engine,” Thomas says. “That will be plenty fast enough to scare the living daylights out of me."

I believe Judd still produce V10s that can be fitted to older F1 cars. A lot of the EuroBOSS guys used 'em if I remember rightly.

Awesome!

If you made up guards, and installed lights etc, it juuust maybe could be registered. Her in Oz it would be an Individually Constructed Vehicle, and Club registration, so only driven on weekends....

If he could get it past emissions, that would be the big hurdle. There was a guy in Japan 10 years ago that registered a Reynard F3000. But in this case I think he should just build it and admire it. The cost of configuring engine & gearshift stratagies, and hydraulic systems, is just an invitation to burn $100 notes......

Saying that, I would certify a bodged up F1 car before a lot of other cars. You know that all the parts, although different, have been exquisitely engineered, and things like the nosecone, and tub have passed the FIA crash tests.......

Formula 1cars are surprisingly simple to assenble, they have to be. The design work to make them that way is a different story all together.....
