The gaffer is Brawn. And I don't think you can sack Rosberg, who comprehensively beat his teammate 3 years running.

I'm still surprised about this news though, Haug is an asset to a team but obviously something happened...and we get a few more clues as to what transpired.

Ok, they've sacked the coach. I wouldn't say they need to sack the driver in this instance but something is far wrong with Mercedes who have underperformed for the past 3 seasons.

No, Toyota was an enigma to the paddock. Took ages to make it to getting podiums, and then sacked the guy who brought them there, only to fall back to midfield and then pull out like losers.

Mercedes has come back to F1 and in 3 years they've underachieved, albeit got their first win already. When Redbull came into F1, in which year did they manage to get a victory? Also, you might want to think about that year (2 years before their domination began) when they got soundly beaten by their junior team! Now that's a killer way to look like failures, but look at what we have now.

Red bull took over an under achieving Jaguar, wasn't until a rule change shake up where Newey could work his magic. Mercedes took over the reigning world champions.

Toyota started from scratch.

Sad to hear this news. I like Haug. And the suggestion someone made that he's leaving because he doesn't like Lewis is I would suggest wide of the mark,they got on well when they worked together at McLaren. Hmmm. There's a lot of reorganisation going on at that team, and it is somewhat top heavy with directors, but I hope he wasn't forced out.

All I suggested is that it seems to be one hell of a coincidence as there wasn't even a hint of Haug leaving before today; the truth is that you, I and everyone else simply don't know his reasons.

Just throwing this in (from some German sources):
Haug is married with one daughter, however, since last year he's having an affair with Anne Wischnitzki, a German model and actress 24 years his junior.


One could speculate. Maybe he wants to start a new life? The F1 stress and his weight issues might make him think about his own mortality and he figures a few more nice years in retirement taking care of his body with a hot momma on his side is exactly what he wants/needs?

You have to admit that it does seem odd that he has seemingly suddenly up and left; unless of course this was the plan all along? As I said; all we can do is speculate!

Then why leave Mercedes all together? He was always at the DTM rounds, if he had an issue with Lewis then he could have just stepped down and stuck to DTM. From his time at McLaren there was no issues with Lewis so font see why there is now.

DDs post seems it could have some validity for his departure.
