Could get interesting then if both are close.

I'm looking forward to finally having a true yard-stick for how good Rosberg really is! Assuming there is truly equal treatment (and I've got no reason to suspect otherwise), then people can finally make up their minds on him.

On the subject of Vettel, I think with his WDC this season and the margin he took it over Webber, that next season will (barring something wildly unforeseen) be Webber's last at Red Bull, and we can see Vettel against a new challenger in 2014. I'm really looking forward to that, as I'd like to see how Vettel handles someone new coming into the environment there, something he's not had to deal with yet. It could result in either frustration, or in him really stamping his legitimate authority on the team and dominating even more. Either way I'd find it fascinating.

Schumacher wasn't enough of a yardstick to measure Rosberg against? I thin Vettel drove very well this year, he's got his faults but this year's WDC didn't simply fall in his lap.

No, I don't think Schumacher was enough of a yardstick, because we don't know truly how close he was to how he was driving pre-2006 retirement due to the noncompetitive nature of the Mercedes. It could be argued at various points that he was much poorer, slightly poorer, or equal to at various points. The poor reliability of the cars at times didn't help either. On the other hand, we know Hamilton's current form as it's not a form three years removed and various changes in regulations later, so it'll be much easier to make a judgment in a short period of time.

The championship certainly didn't fall into Vettel's lap this year, he had to work very hard for it and I think deserved it after an incredibly tough scrap. That said, I think that Alonso would have deserved it too, so it's just a shame that only one of them could.

I must say, although I don't agree giving Jenson BRDotY over Lewis, it's kind of nice to have no one question Vettel's win despite popular opinion leaning towards Alonso.

The drive from that little city to the Red Bull ring. Does anyone know how far it was? I would love to see the whole in-car stream of the drive over there.

It's actually the second-largest city in Austria after Vienna, and the capital of the federal state of Styria. 291,890 residents in 2010.
It's a distance of 46 miles to Spielberg.

When Vettel visited Zandvoort, they also made a compilation of visiting all these places (though not nearly as cool a compilation), but it didn't really happen.
As awesome as that trip would be, I think it's a couple nice shots at nice locations.

Instead of basking in the glow of victory following Sebastian Vettel's third F1 world championship success in as many years, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has chosen to criticise the German's biggest rival.

Speaking as Vettel celebrated with a demonstration run in front of a large crowd in Graz – before then taking his RB8 down the local autobahn to the Red Bull Ring – Marko accused Alonso of seeking to influence the situation away from the track if he cannot be successful on it.

“He seems to have problems if he doesn't win,” Marko told journalists, “When he doesn't win, then he develops incredible political skills.”

Marko's comments were no doubt inflamed by the recent situation where Vettel's championship hat-trick was called into question amid claims that he passed Jean-Eric Vergne under yellow flags at the Interlagos finale. Had he been guilty, Vettel could have been demoted from sixth on the road to eighth, which would have been enough for Alonso to claim the title, but video evidence showed a green flag waving before the German completed his move.

Although footage of an earlier move on Kamui Kobayashi had been investigated and cleared Vettel of any wrongdoing, it took close examination of onboard video from the German's car to confirm the outcome of the Vergne move. Ferrari requested a clarification of the situation from the FIA, while Alonso subsequently endorsed his team's move during a press call at the weekend.

Alonso's repeated references to Adrian Newey's influence on Vettel's success has also rankled with the Milton Keynes team, with Marko inadvertently suggesting that the second Red Bull entry isn't the same sort of force without the German at the helm.

“Our Spanish adversary does not seem quite up to date with his knowledge of the quality of Herr Vettel,” he spat, “Yes, Vettel races in a Newey car, but [Alonso] seems to have missed [the fact] that we put two of them [on the grid] at the start and, at the end, it is always Vettel who wins.”

With both teams fielding unchanged line-ups in 2013, and McLaren being weakened, in his opinion, by the departure of Lewis Hamilton to Mercedes, Marko sees a repeat of the Vettel-Alonso battle next year.

“We assume that we will have a competitive car, so why should things change so much?” he asked, “We have the same team, McLaren has been weakened significantly by the departure of Hamilton, so that leaves only Ferrari. It will surely be a tough fight with them again.”

WTF Helmut, for sure,Vettel is good, but Alonso drove better to even keep that car in the fight and beat McLaren in the constructors, but part of the reason Vettel won the title is because of Newey

"We must respect the elderly, especially when they can no longer control their words.
"Seniority is often incompatible with certain roles and responsibilities."

I :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: hate Helmut Marko, isn't a team player, blames Webber for 2010 Turkey crash when Vettel was at fault :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored: HATE THAT <EDITED FOR CONTENT> :director: No mo of this!

I don't like him neither, but this statement is perfect for something like him. Time to pass the muddy ball back to Ferrari. :D

I dont see any inaccuracies in Marko's statements there. Pretty much everything he says is simply the TRUTH.

And your last line is pretty deragotary and very cheap...you should be embarrassed mate.

Even though that is literally incorrect. Marko is the ultimate moronic Vettel fanboy...
