Ferrari's and Alonso's reputation takes another jump, for being the most sporting and undisputed winners in the sport. :)

All better :)

Against forum rules to amend quotes brah.

Ferrari's and Alonso's reputation takes another hit, for being the most unsporting and undisputed whingers in the sport. :)

True that.

Who wants to get (I refuse to say win) a title in the FiA courts? Where's the honour in that? Oh I forgot for a moment - it's Ferrari(!):thumbdown:

Just to defend the thread title, when I posted this last night the BBC article was headlined "Ferrari consider protest against Vettel" not that they were seeking clarification. Clearly Ferrari have reviewed the data and seen that the evidence is too flimsy to get Vettel a penalty so are unlikely to protest, depending on the information they recieve from the FIA, but usually clarification meand they considered appealing but are so unlikely to get the result overturned that "clarifying" the issue is better than "protesting"

In a number of sports I have observed a small number actually like to "win" in that kind of controversial way. It actually makes it worse for the person/team on the receiving end of the controversial decision. I mean imagine how Vettel would feel if this championship was stripped from him in this manner. Thats got to be worth a few psychological bruising points for 2013...Right? :irked:

Anyway looks like common sense is going to prevail and nothing further is going to happen about this.

Bernie agrees with me, spanky.

Yellow flag dispute 'a joke' - Ecclestone

Bernie Ecclestone believes nothing will come of the yellow flag controversy that has brewed up since the Brazilian Grand Prix, labeling the whole issue as a joke.

On Wednesday evening Ferrari asked for clarification from the FIA over an overtaking move Sebastian Vettel had appeared to make under yellow flags at the weekend. The FIA explained on Thursday that a green flag had in fact been waving before he made the move and therefore there was "no case to answer" over the incident and the move was in fact entirely legal.

"It's a shame because everything had gone so well," Ecclestone told the Daily Telegraph. "It was a super race, a super championship. Now everyone is talking about this. The problem is that no one knows what is going on."

Ecclestone said Ferrari's actions were a joke and that they should have done something on the day if they were really serious about protesting.

"In the rules and regs normally you have to protest," the 82 year-old said. "They [Ferrari] missed that time. Then there is the fact that a green flag was shown, which nobody seems to dispute. It's a complete joke. What they [Ferrari] are saying in that letter is wrong. I don't think there needs to be any action taken. It's completely and utterly wrong."

Ferrari has not actually appealed the result, just asked for clarification as to why the move was legal. Nevertheless, Ecclestone was not impressed with the Italian team.

"Personally I think it's not really like Ferrari to do this. I think they badly wanted to win. But if you want to go back and see what Ferrari have done down the years … But nothing will happen. What can they do? Take civil action? Maybe. But the case is flawed before it starts. Nothing is going to happen."

Sorry, but Ferrari just f**ked up again....looking like sore losers and trying to add a black mark to a very exciting WDC. And they keep screwing their own reputation over and over which is hilarious.

Ferrari would be better off looking forward rather than acting like a spoilt brat and sulking.

A fellow Vettel fan at work mentioned something interesting in all this. Say Ferrari do get their evil way and steal Vettels championship, where does that leave them wanting Vettel in one of their cars in 2014? Would this not be a bit of a faux pas?

I'm just wondering what is going to be the next rule to "end" the Red Bull's great form. OK, they banned DDRS because Red Bull cars gained the straight line speed they didn't have (and not just them), there won't be any usage of DRS in Qualifying, out of the DRS zone itself (note that Red Bull can get their rear wing opened pretty soon). But they just can't stop the dream team. :D

Assuming that's still on the cards... but i think Hulkenberg will be at Ferrari before Vettel.

Do you know what's worse than poor loosers?

Poor winners.

 Although neither is good...!

I disagree with you and Bernie - Ferrari have only sought to clarify the situation.

I've seen a number of comments these last few days, some even suggesting we accept Vettel as three times World Champion despite what might have happened on track. Such thinking is absolutely ludicrous and makes me question how such people, fortunately not on here, respond to other news stories, perhaps with "leave Jimmy Saville alone, he did a lot for charity, don't let touching a few kids spoil it"...

There has simply been a suggestion a driver overtook another under yellow flags, and another competitor has requested clarification on what actually occurred. Ferrari are in their right to do this, even after the fact, under FIA regulations. I hope, given what I've seen, that Vettel is admonished and we can all concentrate on bemoaning V6 engines instead.

However, should Vettel be found guilty, he should be correctly punished irrespective of the existing result. Rules are there for a reason and apply to everyone, whether newly crowned triple World Champion or not.

Hulkenburg is destined for great things I think. Perhaps Ferrari powered Sauber is a step towards that?
