They were blinking in sector 2, then just before the hill, there was green (i.e., all previous flags are out of the way), and up the hill it was solid yellow.
The Sky footage clearly shows both lights within view not blinking.

I think far too big a deal being made of it, but, the simple fact is, when he overtook, the relevant light (located right at that point) was straight in front of him and was blinking yellow. Nothing will change, accept the fact and move on.

FIA gave alonso a chance by penalising Hulkenberg that wasn't deserved. Vettel did well to stay close considering his lap 1 incident. I thought it was over then. Both Vettel and Webber had stints in the back but both finished near the front. Are the top 3 teams really that much farther ahead of the field that they can start from the back and finish in the top 6 or so?

Short answer: yes. As illustrated by their top drivers cutting through the rest from behind like a hot knife through butter.

Why accept something that is simply not true?

Whether you talk about this one or this one, they were not blinking.

Why are you so obsessed with telling a factual lie?

Seems to be flashing to me.

I think it's too late to do anything about it now and I suspect the stewards felt the same way after the race. But that flashing light shows they got it wrong during the race. Inconsistencies yet again.

Apologies btw for the comment to spankyham. I was a little agitated already, so I blew over a stupid misunderstanding.

Anyways.
The reason no one bothered with that is because he overtakes before the yellow light.
Lights and flags apply to the section/sector ahead, not behind.
The tricky thing with this shot (and the video it comes from) is that it doesn't show the turn-in, so we don't see the previous lights.
However, considering Vettel's steering wheel (which should also display flags/lights) is off, all evidence we do have points to this being a non-issue.

The pass in question was supposed to be against Kobayashi, that's an HRT being passed. So this video may be just an onboard shot of one of the safety car reshuffles?

No, it's race speed.

Probably second lap, when Vettel was just recovering from the T4 turnaround.
Key point is that the overtake took place before yellow.

Couldn't he have just been overlapping that HRT? That is definitely not Kobayashi, which is the incident in which all this kefuffle is over....

The Kobayashi overtake was done under a solid yellow... Are the rules for overlapping similar as well? If Vettel was overlapping, the "overlapee" would have privy to a blue flag, which means he would be aware of the driver behind him approaching, so it is not as dangerous as if they were battling for position....

It was a different incident and the zone leading up to that first board was under green flag conditions. It wasn't a lapped car as it was very early in the race (I believe even if you are coming up to a lapped car, you cannot pass under yellows).

I dont understand how people are trying to say he didnt ovetake Kobayashi under a solid yellow (contrary to the videos already linked to on this page), by showing a video of him overtaking a HRT under a solid yellow?

Either way. Regardless of if he did or didnt, these facts DO remain:

1) The FIA say its fine
2) Ferrari says its fine
3) The Season is over, Vettel is WDC, and its NOT going to change.

So lets start arguing about next year and how great Perez is / isnt going to be.....

That's right, here, Vettel is the only one allowed to throw fits. I kid, I kid... how many times must I say that this is the best he's driven and most earned title before I'm allowed to slip in a gherkin joke?
