I'll try and be careful here, my appologies if I accidently get it wrong. I have to admit that in Britain (and countries colonised by the British) there is far more order and respect for the law than in some other countries. Ie Spain and Italy which are culturaly very similar. In Britain if you misbehave or act like those fans did in Spain anywhere you are dealt with no questions asked. Ie at the football even swearing is banned in Britain (So i have been told anyway). In Italy on the otherhand (and Spain is probably no different) a black man or someone that is of a different race, if they are abused and taumented weather at the football or in the street, no one gives a s***. Sad but true. Even if you change the rules/laws in Spain/Italy regarding punishment for these offenses, do you think anyone really cares? Well I can tell you there may be a few people who might inforce the law but half the time people turn a blind eye. Take a look at Italian football. A policeman gets killed in Sicily, the championship is stopped and then when it resumes no one cares. It's a fact because not long after that incident a tifoso of one of the football clubs is killed by a policeman. In Britain you get caught and you're in trouble. If you cause violence then you get taken in and perhaps even get a beating and a lesson taught by the authorities. That is how it should be.

Pretty much correct except for the following:
Swearing at football - banned but not enforced, trust me
Racism - totally unacceptable - normally punished - except when our wonderful law system mucks it up (more often than we would like!!!)
Noone arrested for violence or similare offences in the UK are taken and given a beating, human rights and political correctness means pushing someone or even just touching them could get you arrested these days.

Each country has its own problems. Spain racism it seems (from what I have read both here and in the press0

Has it really?

Yes it has really. In 60s / 70s it was normal conversation to refer to anyone who wasn't British in a micky taking way. There was also some real hard core racism as well but I'm talking about the 'lower level' racism (or non violent if you prefer) like names given to just about every race (not just black). There were terms for French, Italians, Spanish, Germans as well as African and 'Indian' (that was pretty much the generic term for anyone from the Asian continent). Much of it was jokes about other races of people, but it wasn't really seen as wrong then - just a bit of fun. Most of the time, there was no harm intended, it was just based on arrogance and ignorance but must have been offensive to the victims.
I hear very little of that nowadays.
I am an anti P.C. person and I think that P.C. is just a weak attempt to 'legislate' what should really be respect and courtesy. If we had respect and courtesy there would be no need for P.C. P.C. rules have gone far too far in my view and they kind of blurr the real issues like the L.H. incident. I am very pleased at the general reaction on this forum to the Spanish incident. I wonder if the response has changed the attitudes of the morons or whether they will do it again some day?

I think PC rules have gone to far in destroying core rights of Britian, take Christmas and Christianity for example. Local councils are forcing some schools and other public services to refer to it as "Winterval" or something like that. I am a christian and take great offence to this blatent disregard for what I and every other christian beleives. I could take offence also to other religious festivals that take pace during the year but the PC lot don't seem to take note of that (just for the record I don't:)) Racism in any form is inexcusable in my view and the fans who attacked Lewis Hamilton should be ashamed of themselves and banned from attending any future GP or testing session anywhere in the world by the FIA, that would go a long way to removing it from F1.

Because we can only see the differences, not what we have in common (according to my uncle)

Spain and even spanish tv are very un-PC. The language commonly used in spoken conversation and tv is, for instace, not allowed in this forum, and it is also not commonly accepted in most other spanish-speaking countries.

I am not from spain; but from what I have seen many countries are far more PC than spain... even slight 'displays' of racist behaviour (even if their societies DO reflect obvious signs of racial segregation) are generally unaccepted. But the media sure know they can raise a lot of attention with certain themes....

I guess the unsettling question is Will Mclaren follow Honda and their PC 'earth' car now that the FIA is doing this Racing vs Racism thing ? (just kidding!)
Nah seriously... Matter closed. This was an ugly episode, let's hope it doesn't happen again and lets all move on with life.....

I know this is shifting away from the topic but is that for real? That would really offend me being Catholic. (I only follow FERRARIISM in the world of F1 of course *LOL*). What annoys me is that Christian countries like Britain (and there are others as well) that will do this compromise for non Christians but if you go to a Muslim country for example, none of these compromise exist or will ever exist. As far as I am concerned if you migrate to another country, although it is fine to still follow your own religion, one must adapt to the ways of the new country, ie accept Christmas as what it is and that is it.

Yeah, that's for real. There are a lot of cases (some of which I have witnessed) where people of non-Christian religions (mainly Islam) seem to get preferential treatment. Lots of things related to Christian festivals, notably Christmas and Easter, have been cancelled in some places to avoid offending Muslim people. Yet, we are then told that we should do more to accept things like Eid and Ramadan.

I have no problem with accepting and even showing some interest in other religions, but for one religion to be pushed aside unfairly whilst another, one that is not the country's 'own', is left aside, is silly.
