Looks like another way to keep F1 in the media "no publicity is bad publicity" motto being used it would seem.
Still unfair on teams who "finished" ahead of them (I used the "" because Mclaren would have been 2nd before the FIA stripped them of the points - but back on topic)

On a side note it would have been interesting had Lewis won the WDC last year, then Mclaren would have had the number 1 garage - that would have caused far more outrage methinks.

I noticed it was Renault who complained about them getting a garage higher than 5th when they could have been in the same situation. Intersting topic that could be all on its own

Actually they would have won the constructors title. 100% Guarantee the team would have won an appeal of the hungary incident.

And if Lewis won the title it wouldnt have mattered the pit order is determined by the constructor ladder.

Ok fair enough, thought it was drivers title and based on the car numbers

I find this to be very appalling and total disrespect for all the other team's who have been setback a pit not to mention the total disregard for the RULES!

It's appalling, pathetic and if Mclaren want to maintain some dignity they should reject the move and go back where they belong

That's a great idea and I dont think anyone would disagree, atleast I hope not.

I doubt it is Mclaren applying pressure on the FIA to obtain this pit slot. If these reports are true, then i would think this comes from the Mrecedes side. I really dont see Ron Dennis negotiating this....

I doubt the FIA will alter the rules and give Mclaren a privileged grid slot. Maybe this is just a try to "test the waters". Im sure the other teams will complain and not allow it.

Anyway. just a month left.... of politics. Come the racing. :)

guess im disillusioned for thinking their punishment was over the top
McLaren scored 219 points last year that was not an illusion, politics aside they earned top spot 8)

to get 5th spot now is breaking rules

what they should have done is only docked a percentage of last years point if they wanted them not to start at the back

Nice try bud but it's not gonna fly here! If I may let me refer to two previous post of mine:

My perception as to why F1 has lost ALOT of it's allure to the fan's and why some race's are on the verge of being eliminated is that too many fan's are on the 'political bandwagon' thus attendance has suffered. What has been LOST is is what's most important which is the on-track result's. I could care less about what happen's behind 'closed door's' because it is something I have no control over! I say "pull up your knicker's, wipe the tear's from your eye's and do something about it on the track"!

The incesent moaning and groaning has become so tiresome that I almost hate to login now. '07 is in the past, complete history, but it is still being used as a scape goat.

Thank's DD all that edjumication is finally paying off for you :wink: .

This sucks - they made a decision to disqualfy McLaren therefore they should stick to their decision along with all it's consequences (I'm not getting into the rights and wrongs of what happened last season). If they weren't prepared to have McLaren down the end of the pit lane, they should have docked points not disqualified them.

Apparently Ecclestone wanted to give them third pit garage but Renault kicked up a fuss - I'm surprised some of the other teams haven't also kicked up a fuss (although maybe it's just that they know they don't have enough (financial) clout)

Maybe Red Bull (5th last year) hopes to get something out of its compliance - I wouldn't be surprised by a future announcement that the A1-Ring will feature again on the F1 calendar starting in 2010
