BUMP!
I had(/was requested) to do a presentation, 3-5 minutes for any topic I was passionate about, I decided to do it on F1. I have evidence it was well received, and I thought I would post the text on here, the presentation was just a slide show of F1 images.

Formula 1.

The name sets the tone.......<snip>

:clap::clap::clap:

I enjoyed it. Maybe you should video yourself doing the presentation again, and put it on youtube, to enable us to hear the passion in your voice...?

Heh. my voice was shaking during the actually presentation at times, and I stuttered and lost my lines.

I'm too scared to do it again, with the images and put it on youtube. Still, could be the first step into becoming an F1 broadcaster. You could always read it out, I'll send you the presentation.

Although everything felt technically competent, in my opinion it missed out on some of the intangibles that add to the passion. Part of F1 is the spectacle of it, the globe trotting, the celebrity of it all, the atmosphere it brings into a country hosting a GP for that weekend and the particular experience that nothing else feels and sounds like a GP event.

True, I had the same thoughts when writing, I did have more but decided to cut a lot of it, (didn't save the edit outs) and I felt I owed it to the audience to provide the physical and formal basis first, then the passion of the sport second. Although maybe it comes "alive" in that sense a bit more being presented verbally and accompanied by images.

I was just thinking today about the red bull stratos and felix baumgartner's attempt to make the jump and I realized that it seems red bull is doing more to advance technology than nasa these days :hehe:

really though, this line of thought brought me to realize that other sports are merely games. Football, baseball, basketball, etc. are all just games that do not advance humankind or technology in any way that translates into something that could affect daily life for society. However, racing does advance human technology. KERS and things of the like are technologies that will likely be in every vehicle at some point. Lessons learned from aerodynamics can also be translated into other fields that affect how efficient spacecraft, aircraft, road vehicles, etc. can be. A ball or someone throwing it doesn't do that. That's what I like about f1
