I think I would rather carry a spare, just incase a tyre gets ripped up. Plus the cost to replace a run flat is a disgrace

Same. I hear a lot of stories about bad ride on runflats too.

As promised here's a pic of the damage last night.

I have had 2 blow outs, one was not that bad it gave me some warning, (I had slowed down because I could feel a vibration) the other one just popped during some enthusiastic driving, I did a 270 spin and (luckily a field gate was open) as I came to a stop in a field.

I did a technical and dress rehearsal for a show I'm doing in Enfield Town for the rest of the week.

Glenn Miller or Deepham Upgrade?

If a play requires nudity, do they still call it a dressed rehearsal?

:yikes: that smells of manufacturing defect to me. I've never gotten a blowout, and I don't think I'd ever buy a run flat tire unless the car I purchased came with a set already. It would probably be tough to get the words high performance and run flat together in the same sentence promotional pamphlet.

not read you link yet, but I just imagined that because of the harder tyre wall the suspension setup would neet to be changed.

Not just that but the worst place to put weight on a wheel is at the tire since that creates the most rotational force, and run flat tires are considerably heavier. I'm sure there's also a false sense of security as how many people will actually bother to check the tire pressure since it "looks" fine from glancing at it.

I'm pretty damned good about checking my tire pressure and still fall into the trap of just eyeballing the wheel and saying meh, it's fine. :hehe:

There is a TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor System) inside every tire that does that for ya and reports straight to your dashboard.

Yeah but you have to buy the car that comes attached to the TPMS. :hehe:

I kid, I've seen aftermarket stuff, it's just not for me. You're looking at a man that's spent 120 bucks on a tire pressure gauge.

My dad has the E92 3 series which comes with runflats and the TPMS, a company car as well. But he says he'd never spend a penny on this system and tyres since he ain't James Bond. I mean when you think about it...tyres which can run at 80km/h while punctured, and crazy expensive and just not that big an advantage if you took care of regular tyres as they're supposed to.
