Sat at becketts all day today, 50% of people wearing Jenson hats and 50% Lewis. Lewis drives past every body goes nuts including Jensons fans. Jenson drives past and there is a feeble cheer. Odd really.

Jenson is desperate for a good result and so are his fans, then they can get behind him and start focusing on other stuff.

Bad news for the fans being asked to keep away tomorrow, if they're planning on using the carpark. :(

2000 anyone? :irked:

Having never actually been at Silverstone; are they still using fields as car parks? If so, what did they expect; it's a British summer; it's bound to rain; what do they think this is; a music festival?

Bad times. The whole place is waterlogged apparently. There's going to be lots of disgruntled folk.

I hear the fans are trying to organise some form of car-share for tomorrow. Good idea, and it's great to see everyone pulling together!

When Nando aqua-planed on his in lap and lost his front wing it might have seemed a really stupid move to put on inters in conditions that obviously demanded the full wets everyone else was on. The good news is the team thinks the wing can be repaired. The better news is that Nando still has 3 full sets of full wet tires for Qualifying and race. With the forecast the way it is, that may well end out being a very good move.

I wouldn't be surprised if provisions are made to get additional wets to everyone. They get 3 sets of full wets and 3 inters? Or maybe 4 wets and 3 inters.... regardless with the sets used today for practice it's going to be crazy on Sunday if they don't get additional sets.

To quote Gary Anderson; "All we learned today is that you get wet if you stand in the middle of the pit-lane"... Don't go getting too excited RC; free practice means nothing, it means even less than nothing when it rains as teams sit 60% of the sessions out. I heard some interesting commentary on the BBC about how the McLaren is being developed more towards Lewis' driving style which would explain why Jenson is struggling, the two drivers like a very different set-up; Lewis likes the rear to slide around a little, Jenson needs a planted rear end to prosper!

Agree with the practice part...nth to shout about.

As for the BBC's analysis, yes...the excuses need to start coming out sooner rather than later for Jensons performances this season.

I'm not going to make excuses for Jenson; he has been poor for the past dozen races; and need to step up to the plate instead of blaming no grip every single race!

I support Jenson but I am not a blinkered supporter; if his drives are poo; I call it a poo drive; but I still believe he is a better driver than his performances indicate!

I didn't mean you were making excuses. You're probably the only genuine Button fan in this forum, not merely a Hamilton hater which makes your opinions about JB valid.

And yeah, I don't rate Button at Lewis' level but he's definitely not near as bad as he is driving lately.

JB thinks that the race won't happen if these conditions persist: http://www1.skysports.com/formula-1/new ... ons-scary-

If the race doesn't happen; it'll prove what a weak imitation of it's former self Formula One has become; I've seen races in much worse conditions than this; hundreds of thousands of fans have shelled out large amounts of money to see a race at Silverstone; give them what they paid for; as for the drivers; get out there and f*cking earn the millions you get paid!

This is what I mean, why has F1 been dumbed down now in wet conditions? I remember Bridgestones had tyres which were 'monsoon' spec that came in handy for races like Msia, Silverstone, etc....is it simply that Pirelli has crap wet tyres? Or has the idea of 'safety' taken some of the spice from what racing should be about?

I'm not paid millions, but if I was, I'd be expected to do something special when the occasion calls for it...and if it's wet and the car IS able to do laps on a track (even with risks of going of) it's all part of the JD. It'll be very sad indeed if the race was cancelled/shortened due to weather conditions....we'd always have to crow about the 'good old days' where they raced no matter what, and we have such a good field of drivers/champions on the grid today too.

For sure they won't be giving out extra sets of wets or inters. Wets will last as long as its wet, but like other compounds, their performance drops off. If its too wet they will call or shorten the race.

*** Edit - I'm pretty sure they get 3 sets of wets and 3 sets of inters***

If the weather is like it way yesterday, I would not expect a race to happen

IMO If there's obvious sections of standing water they wont race.

without a doubt mate,

(no quite part of the thread but can help to show what the weather is like at the moment)

This is the Village I live in, we are about 15 - 20 miles south of Silverstone

It looked dryish on the Beeb just now, so the spectators that can get in may see some running, but more rain due for qualifying.

It's gonna be a tough weekend all round & I would hate to be one of the organisers. Silverstone can't afford to buy up all the surrounding land to tarmac for parking & they can't be blamed for the weather. Just hope that something can be arranged to ferry the majority of people in & that there is something to see when they get there.

Anybody that is there, have fun.....wet, muddy fun!!
